Windows 11. I  want to find a file or folder on my crowded desktop. Is there a way to enter the name so it displays prominently on the desktop?

You might try going into the file properties, customize, folder pictures. You might find a gif that flashes, or some kind of animation to put on it. I have never tried this, so just speculating. You might try changing the folder icon to something different. I don't believe you can customize the label font.

Open File Explorer, navigate to the Desktop folder, and search for the file name in the search bar there.

You can also drag the desktop folder link onto the desktop.

Step 1: Stop storing files on your desktop.
Step 2: Stop storing files on your desktop.
Step 3: ???
Step 4: Profit.

The desktop is a folder,  you can search it just like any other folder.

I don't know of a way to highlight a particular file.  Just don't store files on your desktop...

Are you simply trying to quickly locate this frequently used file that you're saving on a crowded desktop?

As long are you know the name of it, click on any desktop icon and then type the first letter of the filename in question. The window focus should jump to the first file that begins with that letter. If there's more than one file with that letter and it's not the file you want, type the letter again.

And stop saving lots of crap on your desktop. You're wasting brain power looking through clutter.

Okay, THAT's what I am looking for!
And yes it's time to clean up the desktop. (you should see   the desktop in my office...)

eta...

Now is there a way to make the window focus more noticeable? It's a little drab and hard to see.
