As a follow up to my earlier question on the ETS magazines, I ran only ETS magazines in the last run and gun that I did and they all worked great. The only issue that I have had is if the rounds don't stack right (alternate) in the magazine. Other than that, which I caught during the loading process, I have been happy with them as competition magazines to keep my nice factory and ASC magazines out of the dirt.

Thanks a lot for the tip, I just received an order of them from CDNN. Great price.

FYI, if anyone's looking for the ACT mags, the Mag Shack has them in stock. They're slightly more expensive than Greg's price, but he's currently out of stock, and the Mag Shack doesn't charge sales tax (yet), so the total order comes out a little cheaper.

Recently I saw the three packs of mag cover plates for something really cheap. The tan ones were 3 for $5 or 3 for $4. I almost ordered a few. I still may if I can find that cheap price again.

CDNN?

I finally picked up an M17 and have made two trips to the range with it using the factory 17-round magazine and three ACT mags. Only a hundred rounds per trip, but the magazines have been almost flawless so far, with the ACT mags being indistinguishable from the factory mag in how they feel and function. The only small hiccup I had was that one of the three ACT mags seems to occasionally fail to lock the slide back. I'm really not certain, because I could be depressing the slide locking lever a little while resting my thumb on the manual safety, but I'm pretty sure it happened with the same magazine each time on my second trip. I did some reloading drills with one round in the chamber and an empty magazine to try to confirm and had it happened a couple times. I've marked that magazine and will keep an eye on it on future trips. As I mentioned, it could be my grip, and I'm really not concerned about it, just curious to see if it's related to that one magazine.

I don't plan to carry the M17 or really use it for anything other than training and fun range trips, but I'm really glad I found out about the ACT mags here. They are certainly an excellent value and a quality product.

Bumping this thread up since it’s come up a couple times recently. I have about 200 rounds to through each of the three ACT mags I’ve been using at the range. They continue to perform well and seem indistinguishable from the factory mags that came with my M17. I’m still having occasional issues with the slide failing to lock back on the last round, but I’m fairly sure that it’s related to my grip and not the ACT mags.

These are a great product, and I’m glad I found this thread, so wanted to give it a bump to keep it safe from the Archive a little longer.

Im glad you bumped it too.

Just got in to the 320 platform and I was taken aback by the magazine prices, to the point I could almost justify buying another Sig at the LE prices when you factor in that they come with 150 dollars worth of magazines.

I just ordered 6 ACT mags from GC and now feel much better about my magazine stash.  I'll be using them as my range mags for sure.

For what its worth with those ACT mags - I've had mixed results.  Purchased six to try out.  tested them out a few times at an indoor range, and they seemed fine.  hell, I even decided to give them a whirl at a few indoor USPSA matches and they held up fine.  Many drops endured, quite a few dry fire sessions.  Round count up to this point was ~1500 rounds.  The past weekend I shot an outdoor match.  Absolute disaster.  With just a bit of dirt, the followers started getting stuck, and all of a sudden my magazines were maracas where you would shake rounds out.  This was incredibly frustrating, and led to a lot of cursing and cleaning in between stages.  100% failure rate - every single magazine developed the same issue.  I finished out the match with the OEM mags.

After I got back home, I stripped the magazines down to clean them and while having the guts disassembled, compared them to factory mags.  The finish is definitely different on the magazine body - the OEM mags have a more powder-coated feel to them, and they feel slicker in hands and when loading rounds.  Secondly, are arguably the bigger issue in my opinion, is that the springs on the ACT mags are considerably shorter than the OEM mag springs.  It's down 2 coils compared to OEM.  I've got the feeling that because the mags got some dirt on them, coupled with the less ssmooth surface, the springs on the ACT mags just didn't have enough power to keep pushing upwards on the follower.  They got stuck, and that was it.  I went online and ordered some ISMI extra power full size mag springs.  They're the same length as the OEM, and I'll test them outdoors this weekend.  After getting the mags properly cleaned out, I did shoot another indoor match with the ACT's with no issues.

I noticed the spring is a couple coils shorter. The finish though… mine are shiny and slick as slick can be. Buttery smooth and polished inside and out.

Quick follow-up on the ACT mags with an outdoor range session shooting USPSA style stages with some friends.  The mags are definitely tighter with the new +10% springs.  They did ok, until about an hour in - then the mags started choking again.  I'm done with these mags.  They can be used for indoor range sessions, but that'll be it.  I had a feeling they were about to quit on me when they started feeling gritty when loading.  When loaded initially at home in clean conditions, the rounds loaded quite smoothly (using a lula).  After they got a little dirt on them, you could feel the binding of the springs/followers.

Finished out the day shooting OEM mags, absolutely zero issues.  It was a worthwhile experiment.

What's the deal with those updated orange follower mags SIG was making for the 320? With the rear witness holes? They were including them with some of the higher-end models, couldn't make enough to keep up far as I remember and just wiped any mention of them from the internet so people wouldn't be getting pissed at getting standard mags when they were led to believe they would be getting the updated ones.

Far as I know they were only making 17 rounders, but I thought I recently saw someone post pics of a 15rd version they got. But I have yet to see them for sale anywhere.
Don't even care for the orange follower, I prefer black and would likely swap it out, but I just want those rear witness holes for every round. The right side ones on the original design are

I was wondering more if they were showing up for sale more regularly now. Seems like SIG released them, couldn't make enough to even include with the Custom Shop pistols they promised them with and removed any ads that mentioned them. Seems like you still have to go buy a complete AXG model to maybe get them included. I kinda figured these would simply be a new gen mag that would replace the original design. It's not like it's some radically new design. Slight tweak in the feedlips and punch the witness holes in a different spot. It's not that complicated. What's up with the huge delay in switching over to them?

The ACT mags I have are the same highly polished blue finish as the current Mec-Gar p228 style mags.  They are far more smooth and slick than any factory mag.

I did take a few of my ACT mags apart. They all had springs that were a couple coils shorter. Hasn’t made a difference in use to me. But would be nice if they put a larger spring in. If you decide to do a +2or3 on a oem mag they work fine. To use the extension on a ACT you must upgrade the spring. I suppose it’s just knowing the limitation. I still think the ACT mags are a steal for the cost.

It drags but it's not as bad as I thought it would be. You can definitely feel like you have a copious amount of ammo hanging.

Is it practical? Probably not. But it sure is a ton of fun to let a 30 round mag dump go.

Speaking of magazine springs, does anyone know what replacements to get for the 17 rounders? I'm assuming springs for 17rd P226 mags will work, but you know what they say about assumptions.

I appreciate the heads up from several people about the shorter springs in the ACT magazines. Mine have worked great over several hundred rounds at an indoor range, but I could see how they could wear out or cause some issues long term when introducing dirt and other stuff to them in a more harsh environment. I'd like to replace the springs with the SIG factory 17-round springs from Ben Stoeger, just to be safe, but at $7 each plus shipping, that really starts to eat into the price savings of buying the ACT mags. I'm going to keep using them for training and will only replace the springs if they give me issues. I'll stick to factory magazines if I ever carry a P320 or designate it for HD. I've picked up a few at our local sporting goods store with a discount coupon for ~$40 including tax, which isn't a bad price, all things considered.

I will NEVER trust ETS mags to defend myself. A shining example of ETS quality would be this brand new in the package ETS 320 mag that was spotted on the shelf at a local Dunham’s where I live. Notice the follower shooting through the out of spec feed lips. Absolutely unacceptable.

Likewise. I try to stay OEM until aftermarket mags can earn trust. In that case KCI has worked well in my Glocks and my Kalashnikovs. Time will tell if a company can step up and provide some good aftermarket mags for the p320.
