Everything I read about the Sig 180 fmj's says they are the real deal. 1250 fps. I also Have some Winchester USA Ready that is supposed to also be 1250 fps. Of course barrel length will have an effect. What barrel length are you using? I have a S&W 1006 that I launch mine from. |

Both averaged above the claimed box-flap spec of 1250fps. Out of my 5" Sig P220, the Underwood averaged 1262fps for 10-shots. The Winchester ammo averaged 1253fps. Both were accurate as well.     |

Remember, the two original Norma 10mm loads were developed and standardized from 5" test-barrel fixtures in order to reach Dornaus & Dixon's (and Jeff Cooper's) desired ballistic goal from the 5" production barrels of 10mm Bren Ten pistols. That's why I use a 10mm pistol with a 5" barrel when vetting an ammo-maker's "box-flap" velocity claim. Most makers do use a 5" factory test-barrel fixture (e.g., Hornady) although some makers (DT, UW, and BB) use real-world pistols of different barrel lengths. They also tell you (on their websites, typically) what gun got what velocities with the particular ammo. |

Here's data I collected a while back from a glock 20. Looks like the Sig, Federal 180 bonded, and Buffalo Bore 180 all do 1200+ I have more recent data I've not added to this spreadsheet yet, I settled on 200 grain Underwood hardcast for my bear load. It's hot enough I had to replace the factory 17 lb recoil spring in my glock with a 22 lb spring. ETA: I concluded Underwood is the most likely manufacturer to produce truly hot 10mm
