I’m in the market for one of these clone guns but I am having a hell of a time trying to figure out which brand/importer is still making a 4 click hammer, non transfer bar safety, not retractable firing pin, model. I want a 5.5” barrel chambered in .45 colt. It seems like all the info I am finding is at least several years old and it appears most newer models have these safety features which I do not want. Can anyone help?

Every Uberti I have is the old style... none of them I own have the new transfer bar style hammers.
Uberti... and their American importer brands like Cimmaron and Taylor amongst others... |

From what I see almost all the new uberti/cimarron’s are 3 click hammers with only a few specific models being original 4 clickers. I just wish they had a damn list or something.

I have 2 Uberti/Taylor's and they're both 3 click.
The Pietta Great Western (GW 2's maybe? I can't remember) were the ones I've heard about the most still having the old, 4 click hammers. |

Do the three click guns not have a hammer mounted firing pin?
(Sorry I’ve only had Colts) |

A picture is worth a thousand words right? Attached File This "safety device" supposedly makes the safety notch on the hammer unnecessary. |

I think you’re right about the Pietta Great Western series. Recent YouTube reviews show 4 couch hammers and no transfer bar safeties! Thanks a lot!

Pietta is what you seek. The great westerns are 4 click and way smother action than the uberti.
You can pick up a base pin that doesn't have the safety groove and will be way easier to install. |

Cimarron Pietas are 4-click. Look for the ones with the model numbers starting with PP.

I believe Uberti makes a kit to turn it back into a traditional four click action.
The triggers sit further forward in the trigger guard of the three click actions. They don look right. |

I have an older Hammerli and 2 older EMF Dakotas, and they are both traditional 4 click. Does it HAVE to be new?

I have an uberti i love, but it has the 3 position hammer and floating firing pin. It doesn't bother me much.

Four click Uberti/Taylor “Smoke Wagon”, rigid firing pin. It has a two position cylinder rod as a safety. |

Thanks for all the replies everyone! I settled on a Pietta great western. Can’t wait to load up some .45 colt and sling some lead!

Congrats!
These revolvers are a hoot to take out shooting. Good to hear you reload, I haven't bought factory ammo in 40 years but, I hear .45 colt can be rather pricy! Remember to post pics of your new shootin iron. |

Don't be afraid of used Uberti's. Pietta's have the traditional 4-click trigger/hammer set up, but they're slightly smaller than Uberti's and not quite as strong. View Quote Piettas are the same size as a Colt. Ubertis are bigger. |

I have a 4.75" Cimarron made by Uberti. It's the "old model" frame, which has the original sights and a screw to retain the cylinder pin. 4 clicks. Very smooth right out of the box and the trigger is excellent. Want to pick up the same model in 5.5 and 7.5" bbls too.
