You have three choices for daily appendix carry. You have a 1911 background and deep background with Glocks. The pros and cons. 1. 9 rds of 45acp, (8+1), Full size or Commander 1911, red dot, thin to carry, heavy but carry appendix, two spare mags, 45acp caliber, recoil slows follow up (no big deal, 25 rounds total 45acp. Ammo not cheap. 2. 11 rds of 9mm (10+1), Full size or Commander 1911, red dot, thin to carry, have a LWT and all steel, but carry appendix, two spare mags so 31 rounds total of 9mm, quick follow up, but its 9mm not 45acp, mind game. 3. 16 rds of 9mm, Glock Gen 6 COA (red dot), light to carry but thicker, not as good ergonomics (1911s spoil you), carry appendix, on spare mag so 31 total of 9mm, but have a light on this pistol, carry appendix, but you get it, its 9mm not 45acp, its striker fired, if your dads friend who taught you to shoot with a 1911 45acp when you were 12 years old every found out… oh my. So deep dive, which do you choice and full explanation and why? |

WHY appendix carry? Ive carried all three that you mention. Never appendix. Always either strongside or in a shoulder holster. Each of the guns have their place and I think none are wrong. A 9mm Commander feels like youre shooting marshmallows after shooting a 45acp all day. Yes the recoil is less but Im not sure that really matters enough to make me chose one or the other. I do like Glocks and the Gen6 COA seems like the best theyve done. Yep its a little thicker but Im not sure it makes enough of a difference unless youre wearing spandex |

| While I do love 1911s I'm going with Glock because that's what I already carry most days. I think I want as many rounds between me and a reload as possible. Also, modern bullets are pretty good for 9mm. Still enjoy shooting (and occasionally carrying in a shoulder holster) my 1911. |

Lightweight 9mm 1911 - it's hard to come up with a nicer carry option. two extra mags might be a bit more than needed, but it's still a top choice for me. Thin and light, with enough rounds for non-planned-combat situations. If you're willing to make a small upgrade, I'll put the g19 above it. I like that it has a light. Add a Timney trigger and it's a really hard to beat option. |

This is the one I would choose out of the bunch. Assuming it's a G19 then the size and weight is right. No, it's not a nice feeling 1911, but it will absolutely work when dookie hits the fan. If I can't get myself out of trouble with 16 rounds (I'm not counting on that reload) then I'm in way over my head and wishing I had a bigger caliber isn't going to make much of a difference. Bottom line they are both pistol rounds. It's 9mm or .45, not 9mm or 45-70. I'll take more rounds of 9mm. I'd ditch the red dot and the light too to keep it small, lite, and concealed. Oh yeah... and if dad's friend has a problem with it, he's gonna have to get over it. Hope that helps, Some dude on the internet  |

Whenever possible I would carry as full-sized as possible, with max capacity. If that’s your Glock, that’s where I’d be. I wouldn’t carry appendix myself. I was 4 o’clock ish with a IWB MTAC. But then I started having back issues from having a tight belt to keep it in place. So now I pocket carry 10+1 9mm in a P365. |

I'm going to assume this was written by someone who is 70+ years old. "not as good ergonomics (1911s spoil you)" What exactly is more ergonomic on a 1911? A manual thumb safety? Something that modern weapons don't even need? Plus you're comparing it to a glock. Sure the Gen 6 sort of has a slightly curved grip, but it's still a gun that's been pretty much flat for 40+ years. Put a 1911 up against a Walther PDP and see what feels best to most people. Even if you had to have 45acp, there's plenty of modern variations to choose from. |

I carry P365 alot but the DW will get lots of winter carry soon. Its shoots like a laser and is comfortable. Just prints too much in summer. (I still carry it some days) |

| Glock - for it is 43X or 48. Hardly carry the 21 or 19 anymore. With PSA and Glock making 15 round mags for the 43/48 it makes sense for me. I use Tyrant +5 as well. AIWB for me as a tubby dude works, the little pillow makes it comfy. |
