Hi guys, I encountered an odd problem with some magazines I bought back in February, and am testing out for the first time. Empty, they slide into my 92X normally, and drop free normally. I loaded one up with 17 rounds, and attempted to insert it into the gun. It was very stiff. I gave it a good smack to insert, and it did, but I was unable to extract the magazine until I locked the slide open, and I was finally able to strip it out. Then I did a gradual test, where I started with an empty mag, and added a few rounds at a time to test insertion. It got a bit stiff at 10 rounds, and at 15 it was the same as described previously. There is noticeable wear already at the point where the magazine tube transitions from double stack to tapered, so I'm assuming that's the point that's somehow expanding under pressure from the cartridge stack. Has anyone encountered this before? Is there a model incompatibility I'm unaware of? It's happened with both of the magazines I bought. I have a third somewhere that I bought in the same order, but I can't find right now to test. Bought Mecgars with the +2 extension on them for a total of 14 rounds. Very tough to get #14 in them and then you yad to smack the heck out of them to get them to insert even with the slide locked back. Press the slide release and you still had to firmly grip the extension and pull them out with some real effort. Only load 12 in them and they inserted with no problem and would fall right out if you pressed the mag. release button. Only time I've ever seen that issue and Mecgars are supposed to be great mags. Sometimes even good companies products have issues. Contact them and see what they say. They might send you some replacements. |
