I like 1911s I carry everyday. Ive been slowly moving from 45 to 9mm. I have a 9mm Commander but Ive been toying with a 2011 type (not sure which actual brand). They all seem to have the straight triggerguard so Im guessing none of my holsters will fit. I need a holster suggestion for strong side outside waistband carry OR maybe a Miami Classic style shoulder holster |
Everyone seems to carry a 2011 on all the latest tacticool streaming show series. They all have RDS, and they never have to reload.   Nothing hides better on me than a G19. I carry everywhere. On BBQ days I carry a 19X, same holster. With TLR-7A

I don't now, but I used to carry a Canadian model Para P14-45 as my daily carry back from 2004-2014. I'd still be carrying it if it was the single action, but it was the LDA. I still shot it pretty well ( for me ) although I'm better with a SA trigger. I went back to a SA 1911 for a while, then to a whole bunch of guns, then back to a 1911 SA, that and the M&P 2.0 in .40 S&W. I've shot a 9mm 1911, but not a 9mm double stack 1911ish / 2011. I'm sure that's a fantastic gun. If I bought one it would be in .40 S&W because I have a ton of ammo, cases, and everything to load it, and I sold all my 9mm components and dies and all. But long story short, yeah, I did for about 10 years. |

I did some searching, MASC makes a Miami Classic style shoulder holster for the STI/Stacatto 4.4" gun, so Im guessing that will work. Ive got a couple MASC rigs they are pretty good for about 1/2 the price of a Miami Classic (which doesnt make a Stacatto model). For what its worth theres a used Springfield 1911 double stack 45acp, for sale at a local shop. If it was a Commander size I might have considered it. I toyed with asking if a Commander slide and barrel would fit; but I think I really want 9mm, plus it only has one mag and I dont have clue what/where to get additional mags. I didnt even know Springfield made a double stack 45. |

Im not typically a Glock mag for everything but for this maybe it makes sense; Ive got a tonne and no Sig mags. I definitely want the 4" barrel. Not sure about the rail for a light on a carry gun; but the option seems like a good thing. Yeah I do think I want a RMR option and the high sights. I dont get one trigger over the others, except for looks (maybe the short curve as it reminds me more of a military trigger). Never liked finger grooves on pistols. I dont see the need of an ambi safety; but maybe why not......of course thats all subject to change in the next few minutes |

The biggest flaw with double stack 1911s is that they still use .45 sized mags (basically either STI or Para), regardless of what caliber the gun is chambered in. For 9mm, this makes the grip unnecessarily wide and introduces all kinds of feeding issues that have to be worked around; Stealth Arms (and now Stacato) solves this problem by building their 1911 around actual 9mm mags. As for the options, most of them are just cosmetic. If you have short fingers, the short trigger makes a difference in your grip; if you have big hands, the finger grooves might be more comfortable (the grip is significantly smaller than a traditional double stack 1911). Personally, I think the only real significant customization choice is bushing or bushingless barrel. |

I made the leap to a 2011. Its a small one, only into the kiddy pool. I was hesitant to spend the $1000+ (more like $1500+) for a "big name" model; but I kept wanting a 2011 for no good articulatable reasons. Then I saw a hardly used Tisas BR9 DS Carry for half of retail, so I decided to dip my toes in the water. It belonged to an employee at the shop who wanted to up grade for competition. I dont do gun games, so my competition shoots back. (Of course) They claimed it performed flawlessly. I noted the barrel/bushing was a bit loose; but Im used to Army 1911s being loose enough to rattle (if it doesnt rattle, it doesnt go to battle). Ive been watching Youtube videos and it seems to have a pretty good rep for a sub $1000 2011 (?) My plan (justification), is to try it out. If I still like it, say in 6 months, I'll consider a Platypus or maybe even a Staccato, if NOT then, Ill pass it on or maybe keep it as a memory of my foolish choice |

Being a cop for almost 25 years does that to you. On the off chance I do go someplace out of the ordinary I will carry an additional magazine in a Tenicor ABDO. |

  I am really digging the Mastermind Tactics mag carrier and pillow! Highly recommend the pillow if carrying with a flashlight. I use a Tier 1 wedge on a Certum 3 if carrying without a light. Using the Mastermind Covert belt as a regular belt and am loving it! |

My winter carry is a Tisas DS comander (bottom of pic). In the summer I carry a CDS9 (far right), which shoots similarly but is easy to conceal under a tshirt. I only carry IWB, so I don't have any recommendations for concealable OWB holsters. Attached File ETA: +1 on the above suggestion of Mastermind Tactics mag carriers. They are the most comfortable I've used and are surprisingly durable considering they are made from stretchy fabric. |

I have never understood "winter" and "summer" carry guns. I do understand there are times when a smaller gun is in order, as in when wearing a Tux for your daughter's wedding. Sure I change my guns from time to time out of boredom; not because its too hot. Dressing for the gun is part of the responsibility of carrying a gun; or at least it seems that way to me. Yes there are times for a PPk or a Sig P365l but most of the time its a Glock 17 or Beretta 92 or now 2011. I can easily conceal the G17, 92, or now 2011 because I dress for the gun. Yesterday I wore a T shirt with a Hawaiian shirt over an OWB holster for the 2011 (I was in a Magnum PI mode). I see no virtue in downsizing the gun in an increased threat world |
