Mine will shut off under recoil randomly then turn back on next shot. I have had Aimpoint products before with generally excellent results, but everyone has a lemon sometimes. Thoughts?

Two things to check Is the battery tray screw tight? Did you wash off the bitterant on the battery that's there for child safety. The battery coating is the number one problem. I've seen a couple where the batter tray screw was loose and you get the behavior you encountered. |
| Hopefully it is the battery tray. Not a COA, but my Steiner MPS was working great on Friday during day 1 of a class. Saturday is started flickering under recoil and even if I tapped the optic. I replaced the battery and reinstalled the battery cap how it was. Still did it. Cranked the cap down to where I couldn't see the o-ring anymore and it was working fine again. |

Who installed the battery in the COA? The positive side should be facing the bottom. If it was reversed and the tray inserted, then the battery contacts are bent. With the tight tolerances, it will flicker. That has to go back to Aimpoint. That is the issue we have seen and one of our people dropped it and cracked the lens. Finger tight and then a quarter twist with the long side allen/star wrench. And as mentioned, the tray should go straight in. |

What size wrench do you need? For what it's worth, the Glock factory started installing batteries on COA's to prevent the upside down battery problem and to make sure the batteries were cleaned of any bitterant coatings that were causing problems. (Initially they were shipped without the battery installed.) Glock left a few screws loser than they should on the retaining tray. Things looked great until about 150rds in and the screw had loosened enough for the tray to shift. You might not notice the problem until the tray screw has already departed. I wouldn't be shocked if CZ had the same problem. Aimpoint is fine with a purple thread locker on the battery tray screw if you want to have a little extra something to ensure it doesn't back out. The vibratite purple works just fine. |
