So I grabbed up a CP33 for $299 to play with. Couldn't get it to chamber and fire more than 3 rounds. Field stripped it and found out the issue. The barrel wasn't installed correctly, it was slightly rotated out of alignment so the one side of the magazine didn't have any ramp to feed into. You'll be able to see this if you strip it and eyeball through the back of the receiver. The upside was the Allen bolt assembly. If you remove the Allen bolts, you can remove the barrel and trunnion. It's easier to just get the barrel assembly out, and lightly file and sand a new, wider feed ramp verses trying to remove the barrel completely and trying to redrill an alignment pin. Now it shoots anything I put into it. No need to check cartridge length or any of that nonsense. Since widening the feed ramp and taking the edge off, everything just works.  |
