I badly want a chrome or nickel 1911A1 in .45.

There’s already chrome 1911A1 style guns offered but they’re 9mm/38 super.

I just want the standard GI model. Make this in .45 with a short trigger and I’ll buy.

Who the fuck puts hex grip screws on a on a shiny, "classic" styled 1911?

Grips don't fit worth a crap either...

I've seen the commanders but they were in "satin" nickel which is quite nice, but there is something nostalgic/classy/showy and yet not "pimped" about those high polish nickel guns that has some allure.  I do like how they make the nickel 38's with a 9mm barrel - 1911 fans usually like the 38 super, but the 9mm is liked by the wallet  I like them like the old "super 38" too bad the loads aren't as hot as they used to be.  38 super has a pretty flat trajectory if its not the nerfed down load that is between a 38 super and 38 auto loads makers seem to offer and charge $1 a round for.

Iver-Johnson Arms makes a bright chrome (slide & frame sides are polished) 45. ACP 1911A1, model number:  CHR45BP.  Not bad looking!  I know a friend who has a pair that are consecutively serial numbered.  He likes to wear them in a double shoulder rig, on Halloween, playing a big time gangster.

Nickel okay, but the EPA is making sure no one gets anything in hard chrome ever again.

If we're talking about other companies that make polished nickel 1911s, RIA sells them and Cimarron sells the same RIA/Armscor with their name on it. One thing I don't like about the Cimarron is it looks like they engraved it after it was plated, so I think the letters would rust. The RIA doesn't have all the faux colt engraving on the slide.

Nickel scratches way too easily and I don’t want a Commander.

I would settle for nickel if it was government.

can the sights on the nickel be replaced, or are they "nickled" over the top of them and essentially glued on?

I would buy one in a heartbeat if it was 45. I bitched about this back when they discontinued the 45 version lol. They need to bring it back

$570 plus shipping both ways for a $300 pistol.

Why not?
