Last week when I was purchased a S&W 25-5 at a lgs, I noticed a nice Dan Wesson 15-2 also in the consignment case priced at $1399.

Since I was moving on S&W, I put the DW in the back of my mind.

Today I had an appointment in the same neighborhood so decided to stop and check on the revolver.

Surprise! Had a sale tag of $1329 so I took the plunge.

Aside from a small discoloration on the muzzle of the 8" barrel shroud, there's not much else cosmetically wrong.

Although it came with the case, the interior was redone at some point with foam wrapped in red cloth.

No target grip, no spare front sights, no buckle or patch but, most importantly, no barrel tool.

Although I'm planning on gathering as much original accessories as possible, I'll probably end up getting the barrel tool from EWK.

That's a great deal with the barrel set. I just got one but it only has the 6-inch barrel. But hardly been shot.

That's really cool.  I remember seeing one of those at a gun shop in the 90s.  They were asking $400 if I remember correctly.

Great score! I've never owned a Dan Wesson but always respected them. Early 80's when steel plate silhouette shooting was hot I remembered the Dan Wesson's having a reputation for superior accuracy over other wheel guns at the time. I was a poor boy and only could afford a Ruger Blackhawk .357mag......

Thanks guys.

Yeah, better than average accuracy has always been the one thing I've consistently heard about DW's.

I'm kinda digging the short barrel!

Also I'm not normally a Pachmayr grips, I have to say these are pretty comfortable.

Popped the side plate off and did a thorough deep clean.

While it wasn't horrible in there it was dirty.

This revolver is pretty smooth with decent DA/SA trigger pulls.

It has a pretty short hammer throw in SA that's quite different from my S&W's that I'm used to but not bad.

From what I read, the DA pull gets some negative reviews but I've found it to be very smooth with just a little stacking towards the end.

The only thing that's still a little "goofy" to me is the cylinder release.

40 years of S&W (and 20 of Ruger) releases and that muscle memory is is hard to get over.

If we only knew then what we know now.

I was at Ft Rucker in '88 and there was a 4 barrel pistol pack on the bulletin board for $400.

I already had a DW .44 mag so I've just suffered through with that!

Nice set!

That's a good deal for the pistol pack these days.

Ever since they discontinued them (the 2nd time) barrel prices have gone through the roof.

Thanks.

Yeah, coincidentally, I was looking at Dan Wessons on Gunbroker last night (seeing what .44mags are going for ) and, wow, was I surprised!

I admit that I hadn't looked to see what these were selling for before I bought it.

Still waiting on my barrel wrench to ship ordered on Thursday.

I'm jonesing to play with the different barrels on this thing!
