It took me a little over a year and half to get my California CCW. Unfortunately the sheriff in Contra Costa County thinks 1911's are too dangerous to carry. They don't allow their deputies to carry them either. The Professional would be on my permit if allowed. Clown state and county. Nothing in California makes any sense.

Dude, very nice. I hope to add a professional to my collection someday.

Interesting they can ban a 1911 for civ carry, probably coming to Colorado next. We get a permit and no particular gun is “off list”. Yet.
More interesting, I picked up a pair of MC operators from my LGS years back. The local PD had allowed 1911s for officers, and lots bought operators. Then a new chief comes in…. No more duty 1911s, they all had to go to M&Ps. Many of their 1911s ended up at my LGS, some beat, some nice. I got one of each. My beat cop gun looks like the guy used a screwdriver every time he tore it down, bunch of deep gouges right under the slide release. It pops right out under thumb pressure lol. SA may get flack, but they build them well. |

Amazingly nothing else has broke in 70,000 plus rounds except for last month. The trigger suddenly gained weight. It broke fine but was extra heavy for some reason. Springfield sent me a call tag and fixed it for free!! They gave the sear a new edge and made me another 2 extractors. I figure this is all it will need. Been focusing on shooting my concealed carry now that they are issuing permits in my county. It had been 15,000 rounds or so since I detail stripped this the last time. Figured you might enjoy some picts of a really dirty pistol. https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/109231/20230701_183918-2870547.jpg https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/109231/ifokvgg8-2870550.jpg https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/109231/hhvp8rzo-2870555.jpg View Quote That is shit hot. The professional and a Baer just look sexy with that worn finish. Not sure why, but those 2 pistols just do. |

Most firearms look better dirty and worn. This example sets the bar.
Well done OP. |

Very nice! One question, is that slide stop with the flat end factory SA?

View Quote Yes, it is just regular SA MIM slide stop and grind down the end for custom shop build. It's not a typo, it's MIM and works as intended. When people tells you MIM is no good, it's not completely true. Some application are just as good when done right. |

Odd given their website advertises custom pistols including the Professional. Years ago I had put in an order for a Professional when the wait was 3 years. At the 32 month mark, I contacted SA to check status and was told that they had attempted to make contact with me because my order was ready. Since I had not responded in time, my order went to the next person. I asked when had they tried to contact me and how did they do that. They replied they had tried by phone and email. I checked phone records and email and there was no proof SA had tried to get in touch with me. I let them know that and they did not dispute what I came back with. Their response was “Oh, ok, I thought we had. We can get you a pistol but it will not be at the price we agreed to sell it for when you ordered 32 months ago.” At that point I told SA to keep their pistol and let them know that such dishonestly was completely unexpected. I immediately emailed Deb who was a big wheel at SACS since she is the one who took my order and let her know what happened and that I was headed elsewhere with my money. I know that the Professional is a good pistol, but ACW is my brand of choice. The quality is superior and Rob was very helpful when I ordered my Prime Elite. |

Although SACS is no longer in existence, there was a report recently on 1911 forum that Springfield still provide life-time warranty support for those SACS pistols. All their former SACS crews are still with the company, just in different job function now.

The dissolution of SACS, and Colt Custom Shop breaks my heart. A real hole in the 1911 world.
Legitimate tragedy that SACS is gone. |

Back in the 90s, the custom shop was the go to place for a lot of government agencies from the Marines, FBI, LAPD, etc were all demanding things from Springfield. Regular customers had to wait 1-2 years before they could get something back. Also while popular in the 90s, people believed you had to spend 2-3K on a 1911 to get it running well. I think people are getting wiser these days, if anything. |
