This is what I've got in my pockets right now... Rohrbaugh R9 (9mm), Gerber folder, keys and a phone/camera/mp3  The Rohrbaugh R9 is loaded with Speer Gold Dot 124 GDHP  This is my usual daily carry, sometimes I take the Kel-Tec P3AT, or the Kahr CW9 depending on clothing, but for the most part, I stick with the R9. |
Not trying to start a flame war, just my own observations from firing it: It isn't even heavy enough to pistol whip a man (con) but it manages to tame recoil (pro) and is very accurate (pro). I found the safety and slide release horribly engineered, but I am abnormally picky about such things. But the tame recoil in such a light pistol only means that the projectile it fires isn't suited to anything except pest control (which I was using it for). One can hope for .30 - .36 inch worth of expansion and ~10 inches of penetration, with very shallow penetrating fragments traveling very close to the main crush cavity. In other words, everything that makes the .45 a great defensive cartridge, this cartridge is not. You would get the same expanded diameter and much better penetration from 9mm NATO FMJ, and we all know how great a stopper that round is. The pests I've shot with it - raccoons, possums, the occasional coyote - I've only had exit wounds about half the time (including a whopping 1/4 of the time with coyotes). That should tell you something about its ability to penetrate far enough in a defensive situation |

ID what? The holster? It's a Lou Alessi CQC/S. I have several of them myself and they are the best OWB I have ever used. They hold the pistol real snug into your body. I've found that a lot of other OWB holsters either allow the pistol to flop some or hold it too far away for concealment. Alessi's stuff is top notch. |
