| It's the better one IMO. The downside is that it has a more pronounced thumb ledge that means it won't fit in every Echelon holster. It sticks out away from the slide about a 1/4 inch. It also has a couple spots to drop in weights to make it a little heavier if desired. |

I was hoping they'd start popping up on the webstore in different colors and sizes (though the medium grip feels pretty good to me), but I guess time will tell. |
| Looks like Sharp Bros is making a manual safety compatible grip module now. Available on Springfield's website too. |

fuck it, was debating it and went the sharps with funnel for the 4.5. have a KT mech and wtp light holsters. Added the wtp foam backer. If it fits my paw half as well as my sar9x or my cannik tp9 sfx with mag funnel or the da tp9 I'll be a happy camper. At the first outting no light but a cylee dot I found it way flippy the grip just does not fit my hand right. Took the optic off ansd put a trl-1 and found the flip way less. Hope with this module and putting the dot on it that it will be as flat shooting as the sar or tp9s |

For those that have gone with the metal modules, how are they.... I have been going back and forth on a metal framed echelon and CZ Shadow 2 carry. Also, does anybody have any thoughts on the manual safety version... I like the ambi safeties on my 2011 but it doesnt look like they are big enough to serve a thumb rest. |

I would hate to jump into a Echelon for 500 and add another 500 in mods and be within 200 dollars of something I know that i really like. My buddy has a comp 4.5 and I do like it. better than a glock but snappy compared to my 2011. |

I cant speak for the Sharps but i have the Icarus pictured above. I really like the grip angle compared to the OEM polymer frame. Even with the small backstrap on the OEM, the Icarus just points more naturally for me. The only potential downside for some is the texture is very aggressive. I don't exactly have sensitive hands but after a couple dozen rounds, it was a bit painful. I ended up using my dremel tool and grinding down the checkering on the front and back of the module. Fortunately, i have the gray module so it doesn't look too awful. Feels A LOT better though. ETA: I forgot to add that there may be some fitment issues on some holsters. I have a T-REX Ragnarok light bearing holster that fits fine. I also have a Crucial Concealment OWB holster that i got from the Springfield website and it is too tight for that one. My buddy has a comp 4.5 and I do like it. better than a glock but snappy compared to my 2011. Got the frame, felt good in the hand without the funnel. Wanted to make sure incase I had to return it before the build. With funnel feels a tad cramped but good. Transfered the fcg, mag release etc. TRL-1 HL and wolf 2-G optic, springer precession steel rod and stock power spring. Maybe total just a few minutes, had more of an issue getting the take down pin and fcg fitting in. Bastard is beefy as fuck now, love the added heft and well balanced. In the wtp holster it works, the KT is somewhere in the holster box. Added the wtp pad to the holster and is way more comfy. Thought it felt beefy, so busted out the scale. Busted out the RIA tac ultra 1911 in a vedder comfort carry, up on they scale they go. RIA 3.85 lbs. Echelon 3.65. echelon is going to be slighty easier off setting with mags than ths 1911 is. Debating a few changes and upgrades from where it sits currently. Threaded barrel and rook comp. Or just the barrel, with booster. Tyrant trigger and mag release. Supressor sights. Still debating a few more things. |

Got out in the woods with it. Few fte, one was a norma mhp 108 gr the other was a blazer 115. Ate everything, flat and comfy. 17rd with Ndz or tyrant mag catch and trigger are next mods, so is the threaded barrel and break. Got the tyrant trigger in today. Install this weekend when I have the rest of my parts. Going to rename it the Czechelon. |

@ShaggyNuckles I just saw your post. I have the manual safety version. The nice thing about the ambi-safety is that clicks on with intention and comes off easily while being low profile-- I have never had it change position when I don't want it to and I do not rest my thumb on it while firing. The not so nice thing if you like to rest your thumb on the safety while firing is that it's low profile enough and high enough that it looks like it's possible to have your thumb ride the slide as well as the safety while doing this, which may not be ideal; plus, the lack of a ledge would not provide a whole lot of leverage during recoil if that's the goal. Only a few minor tweaks to the frame would make it 100%. @DocBull, thank you for this response. I'm not surprised about how it points given how the backstrap is shaped coupled with the more vertical grip angle. The palm swell is actually what has me intrigued about the Sharps Bros grip module-- the only way to get the Echelon's factory grip to fit my hand better would be to have a little more "meat" where the panels are on the Sharps Bros grip. A 1911 with standard thickness grip panels fits my hand very well. One thing I can see on the Sharps Bros that I don't think I'd like would be the magazine well, but I guess when the Springfield magazine sleeves are in-stock that might be an alternative (if they are compatible with the Sharps Bros grip module). |

@NN300BLK ok I hear ya, thought the same way and was kind of feeling the same. Changed a few minor things and it changed the feel without the pinky crowding feel, just the right knuckle shaving edge needs dealt with now. Mine has a sharp right side edge at the champfer of the trigger guard and undercut. Also the formally ambi mag release and undercut. No way is that going to keep me from using it or hitting the range with it. The 4.0 18s won't fit with the flared. Just a palm hair on the curves at the back of the mag extension hitting it. Just need a bit of file love. Damned thing is making me want to pick up 4.0 threaded barrel and a MM frame and another rook comp. |

The sharp edges seem like a design mistake or a quality issue--that edge should really be "smoothed" through some light surface finishing. In terms of the magazine well the interference with the 4.0 18s seems to be by the design-- the Sharps Bros website says that the flared magazine funnel is compatible with full-size magazines and "prevents magazine overtravel"-- the overtravel stop is probably what you're hitting. It also says the funnel is not compatible with the 4.0c 10 and 15 round magazines-- weird that they omitted the 18 round magazine, but that may be an error or oversight since they say it doesn't work with the compact 15 round magazine. |

It's probably an oversight. The magwell makes the grip work with full size magazines. No compact magazine is going to fit with it installed. You need either the magwell or a magazine sleeve for the full size mags to prevent over insertion. |

You need either the magwell or a magazine sleeve for the full size mags to prevent over insertion. Understood and agreed. I really like the concept of the Sharps Bros module, but I've heard/read some mixed reviews about the actual grip module's fitment/QC and I can tell that the magazine well is just too wide side to side for my tastes (if they had flushed with the grip module in terms of width, I'd be fine with that); even with the sale on Springfield's website bringing the price down, I'm going to really ponder whether or not I want this particular grip module. I like the idea of being able to put the factory magazine sleeves on the full-size magazines and pick up a couple 4.0c 15 round magazines, but I don't mind the full length grip and it's pretty rare when I can carry a compact but not a full-size, and at that point it is better to just go even smaller... If I didn't have the manual safety version, I'd go with the Mischief Machine without hesitation. |

If I didn't have the manual safety version, I'd go with the Mischief Machine without hesitation. Magazines do have side to side play with it. It's not a big deal IMO. If you look you can get them even cheaper than what's on the Springfield Armory store. Both of mine I found less than 300. neither are the manual safety version though so that might affect the cost. Honestly I wish I had never bought the first one for my compact. I liked the ACE grip that I bought first. But the Sharps Bros just felt like an extension of my hand. The more I shot it the better I liked it. I ended up replacing the ACE with another Sharps Bros. They just feel right to me. I am running mag sleeves for all my full size mags. I got 3 from SA before they ran out and then a bunch of 3D printed ones for a hell of a lot less. They work and for practice mags and are just fine. |

The magazine release play is the most common complaint I've seen, but I suppose it doesn't really matter as long as it doesn't negatively impact function. I guess my engineer brain just wants pristine machining and finishing. ![]() I don't regret getting the manual safety version, but the one downside is that, so far, it has limited the options for this kind of accessory and, unfortunately, I've only seen the Sharps Bros module on their website and Springfield's at full price (excepting the excellent current sale pricing). If I end up getting the Sharps Bros (or a different compact module), I was planning on using those magazine sleeves because like I said, while I don't necessarily dislike mag-wells, I just don't want something as flared out as the Sharps Bros funnel. |
