They are everywhere really cheap...really cheap, and I liked the feel of one I handled about 40 years ago - the temptation is real. The only real issue I have heard of was brittle firing pins. Anyone have to replace one, and if so, what did you do/where did you find the parts/should I replace the firing pin spring at the same time if that happens?

| From my experience, any somewhat mass produced gun that breaks through firing pins often, will typically have someone make and/or sell replacements for it. Places like Jack First or Numrich often do this. Of the 40+ years these guns have been around, I’m yet to hear or read any reports of firing pins breaking on them. The older 1911-sequel SAO B and BM pistols seem to chew through them, but it looks like Star may have figured things out with the 28/30/31 pistols. |

@evnash - where did you find a holster? I got the firing pin, cheap insurance, and it may have been overblown internet rumors, but hey, it's in the box if needed. I also discovered that firing pin replacement is dirt simple. It actually rode with me yesterday, as I was traveling in a cowboy getup that precluded 90% of concealed carry rigs. I threw the Star in that canvas "shoulder" rig with the spare mag loaded with the one and only JHP load I had tried with it, Golden Sabres, and off to the races we went. I felt perfectly comfortable with El Cid's Big Iron. |
