I just recieved a custom upper for my 22/45

It's 3 inches long, and will always have a suppressor on it.

I took it to the range to sight it in today but can't get on the paper.  I'm about a foot high at 10 yards.  Rear sight is all the way down at this point.  I removed the can to make sure that wasn't the problem and it's still way high.

Should/can I get a taller front sight?  Or just skip all that and get an optic mount for red dot.  I wanted open sights but if that's not possible with such a short sight then I'll have to.

Thoughts?

Need a dedicated can with a front sight mounted to it.

Is it a factory gun or one you cut down? Either way if you want sights I am sure you can figure out a solution. If it's a factory Ruger gun I'd ask for their assistance. Maybe Dawson or someone makes different heights.

I had an SOT make it for me.  Just recieved yesterday.  I didn't know about the Dawson sights that's great.  I will take it back to the range and set things up to get real numbers.

Question about the calculator.  They ask for point of impact.  Should I reset the elevation to center again and then measure POI?  Or with it adjusted all the way down as it is now?

I would center it out so that you have some room with future loads.
