Current carry is a Shield 1.0 I carry iwb. I started carrying a Kahr pm9 pocket carry which has one less round than the Shield. I have had a nagging desire to upgrade to higher capicity and the Max-9 is a serious contender. I can walk out with the Optic ready version today for $285. Another option is the combo with the veridian optic which would be $325 otd. A lot of people just say stick with the Shield. I did order a couple of mag extensions lastnight to up capacity by 2 rounds but that still isn't gonna be the same capacity or size as the Max... Another drawback is that both rugers have manual safety which I'm not wild about. |
| I have one and find it quite precise i.e. making good groups at 25 yards. I also bought the 4 inch slide assembly, again, I'm pleased. There is a lack of IWB holsters for the four inch. The new length slide is setup to use the same recoil spring and guide as the 3.2 inch. |

I recently bought one of the current “gen 2” versions and I really like it except for one thing… you cannot get night sights for it. Nobody makes them, not even Ruger. Unless you buy the one with the dovetail front then you’re screwed. I really don’t know why Ruger wouldn’t make them all the same. Other than that the pistol is very accurate (one of the most accurate slimline pistols I’ve tried) and has functioned 100% with all the ammo types I’ve put through it. I wouldn’t buy it again though if I knew I couldn’t get night sights. |
