Mine is an early model GI that I rescued from a pawn shop. When I found it it had a striped out grip screw bushing, missing front sight, and no grips or grip safety. What attracted me to it was the NM serial number, and crossed cannons that were aft of the ejection port. Also, the lack of ILS, was another selling point.
Here it is after getting it back up and running:

This is my old 70 series. It was my first duty gun on the job and looked like hammered crap. My gunsmith really outdid himself in rebuilding it. I never would have imagined it could be restored to look the way it does now. It had some pretty deep gouges and marks from rolling around on the asphalt. It is not perfect now but it is as close as I am likely to make it.
