Are these rare or valuable, more so than a Walther P99AS?

Not that GunBroker is an accurate gauge of anything, but one guy has listed one on there right now with starting bid at $599 and buy it now $899.

Typical Gun Broker fishing expidition.

They are good pistols actually, the frames are made by Walther at the mothership In Ulm.  Still, no way that is a $900 pistol.
you can buy a brand new Walther PDP in the mid $600 range.

if you want an accurate representation of what stuff is bringing then go to advanced search and search completed listings.

I recently purchased a MR9 for $500 out the door.

It's a great gun, Walther P99 clone pretty much. I think I over paid a bit but I had been looking for a P99 for some time without any luck.

Go to advanced search and then completed listing search for it.  That’s a more accurate representation of what they are bringing currently

I just bought one for $350

On a related note: what holsters do MR9 owners use? Will it fit a PPQ holster?

Edit: I found it does fit at least some PPQ holster, I got a leather OWB it fits well.

I should have bought one when they were sub $400 before the plandemic, but ended up buying a P99AS instead for $650.

Side note: Walther is discontinuing the P99 after this year, so availability of both of these will likely decline severely unless MR wants to make their own frames.
