Walked into a LGS feeling lucky for some reason and spied one of my grail guns.  A stainless Ruger Blackhawk in 10mm/40 S&W.

It was from a deceased friend of mine collection.   He bought every new ruger that got introduced and never shot them.  This Blackhawk was never shot by my friend and his widow consigned it and the rest of his collection.

Sorry Rodney,  I'm shooting this one in your honor.   I'll even have a whiskey and cigar tonight and reflect on our conversations.

Cheers Rodney!

Big win for you - thanks to Rodney.  Heck yeah, shoot the snot out of that Ruger.  And give a toast to Rodney and the nice memories you have of him.

Very nice looking shooter. You can't beat a SA Ruger for quality and value.

That's a very nice revolver. I'm sure your buddy would be happy to know that you will enjoy it.
How does it headspace the length cartridges?

I have not shot it yet as a priority came up.  I did have a whiskey and cigar though.   Will take it out this weekend.

Congrats on getting one of your late buddies guns.

It would've been nice if you could've bought it directly from her, but I understand that sometimes people just want to drop items off somewhere and be done with them, especially if they need the money to continue living without their spouse or significant other.

I mean, are there 2 different cylinders for 40 and 10mm? The 40 is significantly shorter than the 10mm.

Very nice.
I didn't know I needed one of these.

Sorry about your friend, congrats on the blackhawk.

They came with separate cylinders for .40 and 10mm.
In one of my rare good buying decisions, I eventually bought both barrel lengths, planning on having the 6.5” cut back to 5.5” and getting worked over, cause single actions with barrels of other than 5.5” are lame lol. Then I discovered that less than 1,500 of the longer barrel variant were made. So still it sits, cause spending a grand on custom work to cut the value in half just annoys me.

Thanks. Yeah, I wouldn’t cut that gun up, either, lol.
I'm a big fan of 40s&w and just recently got into the 10mm game. These revolvers seem pretty cool. Might need to do some research.

It came with a 10mm and a .40 S&W cylinder.   I have 10 gallons of once fired. 40 brass.  I will shoot mostly. 40 through it.
