Posted this in GD, but not a lot of responses there. So, self dupe.

My '79 2.5" Python now has a younger brother in a 3" SS current production model. It'll be interesting to compare how they shoot.

Nice.  I like those old Blues, but have never owned one.

I'm lusting after the 4.25" blued version.

I have two of the new ones, a three and a four.  Happy with them.  I'm mostly a Smith guy and never really considered a Python but I ran into a couple of good deals so decided to bite.  Haven't shot them a lot.

I have a few S&W revolvers - 442, 586, 29; as well as a GP100 Talo.

I was either going to be a 627 Pro or this. I'll eventually get a 627...

Nice choice. They have an amazingly smooth trigger pull. I have to admit, it is tricky getting used to how the cylinder releases, compared to other revolvers I own.

Check to make sure your bore isn't off-center. Hopefully yours actually lights off rounds in DA. Mine's been back to Colt twice and still isn't reliable.

Every time I get close to buying a new Python, I read a post like this.  I've got a boatload of revolvers and zero Pythons.  I've owned four over the years and ended up parting with them for various reasons.  I will say though, that the 2.5" Python is a good looking piece......

It looks great. It's 100% in SA, about 60% DA. So there's that, I guess.

I have a stainless 6" and have no complaints other than the heavy SA pull (which is intentional by Colt...thanks California) and the janky rear sight adjustments. Am waiting for the blued 3" to come out. At that point, I'll send both in for trigger work. The 6" will get a WC adjustable rear sight and the 3" will get a fixed sight.

That 2.5" model is a beauty. There is nothing like old school blueing on a nice revolver.
