I have a Smith 586 and Colt Trooper Mk3, and im looking to replace the grips. They are both loose, with the Colt being worse off.

Ive so far, more or less,settled on getting a Hogue grip for the Colt, and possibly one the 586 as well. But, im curious on what other options there are that people like.

Forgot to mention, looking for wood grips.

Wood or rubber?  Personally I never cared for Hogues, in rubber I generally go Packmyhr.  Wood grips, well, there's a lot to choose from.  The Thai grips on ebay are surprisingly nice and quite affordable.  Original grips can be found but not cheap, Colt factory grips can be quite expensive.  For the Trooper I doubt you'll find anything under $100.  Smith factory grips are better price-wise but not by much.

Given the choice, I will always take Herret's Jordan trooper grips.

As an alternative, the loose grip fit can be easily tightened by using 5 minute epoxy in the areas around the frame pin and the top where they fit the frame.
Apply a coat of wax as a release agent.  Don't wipe it off, let dry 20 minutes.
Apply the epoxy to the area, put the grips on and just snug down the screw.
Wait 30 minutes and remove the grips and clean up.

That's a good point. If you are really lazy like me, I've been meaning to bed a set of grips, but some painters tape I put on the frame has been in there for years now, I'm convinced that is a solid fix as it is.
