OWB holsters for concealed carry? (Page 1 of 2)

I usually carry a S&W 442 in my front pocket. I recently picked up a Sig P365. I have pocket carried it but now Im thinking about trying OWB carry. Im not a fan of IWB or appendix. Anyone carrying subcompacts OWB concealed? Need a hood holster recommendation. Thinking something smaller that rides high. Leather or kydex is fine. |

I carry full size 4" guns every day own concealed. A p365 would be easier. I also have light and optic on them.. I use holsters like tier1 concealed and research concealed. |

I have an R grizzle high ride OWB leather holster for a 365. It's a bit high for my liking. Send me your address and you can try it, see if you like it. If you do, send money. If not, mail it back  I do carry OWB often enough, and find it to usually be more comfortable than IWB since the gun isn't rubbing my skin directly. It's hot here so a loose fishing shirt or whatever is not out of place and it hides just fine. |

I use the Bianchi belt slide. It does leave the muzzle end exposed a bit, so there’s a remote chance that rapid upward pressure on the muzzle could unholster the gun. One time, while sitting down in a narrow theater seat with arm rests, I did clip the muzzle on the arm rest on the way down. It didn’t dislodge my pistol, but I did feel it shift a bit. Being aware of that allows you to mitigate it. But I love how high and tight to the body the pistol rides, so it’s a trade-off I’m willing to make. I also like that your belt stays at your natural buckle point since the gun is sandwiched in between the outside of your belt and the holster. If you remove and stash your gun, the holster presses flat against your belt and you aren’t having to re-tighten your belt. And since you’re wearing a jacket or untucked shirt anyway to carry OWB concealed, people aren’t going to see the contrast of the holster and belt even if the colors don’t match. I do have an IWB holster I use quite a bit. It’s nice be able to quickly remove the gun and holster in one move and stash it when needed. And the belt slide does require you to take the time to line it up the right way with your pants’ belt loops, so it isn’t as convenient. But that’s really just an extra 20 seconds to add it or remove it if you are right handed. |

It’s really more about choices along a continuum where you compromise between absolute concealment and things like retention, rapid deployment, easy removal. For a short gun like the 365, if your holster rides high and tight, an untucked polo or t-shirt will cover it. Most people aren’t going to be staring you down from an angle where the occasional tip peak will give you away as you sit, stand, lift some mulch bags onto your cart at the Home Depot, etc. The butt tends to print more than the barrel, which is an issue even for IWB holsters. |

Go to eBay and search names like "Mitch Rosen, RGrizzle, Kramer, Milt Sparks" etc and buy one of their pancake holsters. Something like this... RGrizzle OWB

| I conceal carry a Dagger Compact or a Micro Dagger OWB every day. I'm 5'9" and 195 lbs. I wear an XL t-shirt untucked with zero issues. The Dagger Compact may print a little but who cares? The Micro Dagger rarely prints and that's with a Holosun on both. I have Kydex holsters from KT Mech and We The People Holsters. |

| Yeah i pocket carried my p365 in my front pocket all day at an art festival. It printed very bad. Like the obvious outline of a gun. No stares or comments. Most people just don't notice. Hell Im a gun guy and I look for other people carrying and never see anyone. |

Also after looking around I think im going kydex. |

I use a belt slide from International Handgun Leather, (IHL) I have one for each gun. No hood but with a good gun belt, it keeps the gun tight against the body and has decent retention. I wish they didn't go out of business. |

Agree. One of the few OWB holsters I’ve tried that keeps the gun close and tight to the body, easy to conceal under a shirt and very well made. Highly recommend. |

| Some variation of a pancake/combat master style conceals even full sized pretty well with an appropriate cover garment. In addition to the other companies listed I also like Simply Rugged, El Paso and a couple of others. Obviously they're leather, which I prefer for an OWB concealed holster, but you can get Kydex ones that are designed similarly. Again, person opinion, but I feel like the leather pulls the gun in tighter and retains it better but that's with a quality holster made for the particular gun model, not some one sized fits a lot of variations type. |

I prefer pancake holsters, and havent bought a bad one in quite a long time. When Tagua doesn't have what I want, I hit up E-bay and get one shipped-in from Turkey. Both of these *sound* like ghetto choices, but I've been quite happy with the quality. The last one I got from Turkey was indistinguishable from a Galco, if you like the latter's aesthetics. Less than half the price, though. |

And that's what I like about the Total Eclipse. It gimmicks the pancake style very well, and is thusly so concealable. And weighs less than leather, is thinner, and has that awesome, positive, adjustable retention you get with good plastic. I had a Galco Combatmaster, carried in it for years. It's long gone, sold away. |

| Tulster came in and I must say Im very impressed. With my P365 with Shield redot and wearing just a T shirt it conceals really well. It rides nice and high without flooping around. Very little printing (basically just the but of the mag with the factory extended grip mag) but you wouldn't automatically think thats a gun. It hides well enough no one would notice. I will put it on again tonight and take a few pics. |

On Your 6 has been solid in my experience. They were the thinnest/strongest OWB holster I could find, which wasn’t also expensive or required getting on a waiting list. If I were to dabble in OWB non-leather for my EDC (snubbie) I’d probably give them a shot first. If I remember right, you could choose panel colors, belt loops, etc. Pretty nifty for $55

1791 GunLeather 3-Way 1911 Holster - Ambidextrous OWB CCW Holster - Right or Left Handed Leather Gun Holster - Fits All 1911 Models Sig, Colt, Kimber, Ruger, Browning, Taurus and Remmington. I have a couple of these holsters. I use one for a commander 1911, and one for a Sig 365xl with red dot. These are inexpensive and after using them for quite some time, about 5 or 6 years for the 1911 and 3 or 4 years for the P365 they both still work as intended. Never a problem. As long as you have decent cover no one is going to notice either of them attached to you hip. I wasn't sure the Sig would work with this but it fits nice and tight and stays put, the optic has not yet been a problem. I believe the price is $50 or $60 off of Amazon. |

A good pancake or similar body-hugging OWB should be fine even under a tshirt for such a small gun |
