A couple of years ago when I really went off the deep end with handloading, I tried some Fioccchi lead-free primers in order to decrease lead and toxic metal exposure both during handloading and during my predominantly indoor shooting activities. The primers were fine, routinely performed in between magnum and standard (i.e. non-magnum) primers and were only a little more expensive. Win-win. At some point, they became pretty hard to source; I usually buy from Midway and they stopped even listing them so with the writing on the wall I located some from some random online seller and bought another case hoping my credit card info wasn’t going to get stolen. Online searching kept brining up that Fiocchi was building a $41M munitions plant in Arkansas in 2022, projected go-live 2025. They were supposed to make primers first, then expand (or something). Screw you. That plant would have brought good jobs to Arkansas and a bunch of other stuff. Yet another example of enshittification where brands are bought and sold by big groups (the article details the spiderweb of corporate owners who bought it out several days after announcing the build then obvious cancelled that), the consumer and workers get strung along, and ultimately screwed. It is darn near impossible to buy American anymore, but I still buy S&W, Starline brass right from the mfgr, my Lee press was $89 and made in the US and I can go to the Dillon plant or call them on the phone if I need to. American guns and parts seem to be about the only thing we still do OK. Be careful with your money, support US products and workers, and screw you to big complicated corporations that F over consumers and US workers. Anyway happy shooting. |

Ah Fiocchi. because who needs a centered flash hole! FWIW, American Reloading dumped a bunch of RAUG lead free SRP primers for piss cheap a year ago. For like 3 cents a primer, when primers were still a lot more than 3 cents a primer! I bought thousands. The actually run pretty good. I pair them with 5 cent MK311 frangibles, for 100% lead free ammo. Not that I really handwring about lead-free, but hey, why not? |

I think he means LR as in "long rifle" like he bought thousands of 22 long rifle rounds, not LR as in Large Rifle primers. Fiocchi makes rimfire ammo, and Lapua (I just found out, looking into it..) also makes rimfire ammo that apparently is what "95% of Olympic champions" use. yet another reason to buy US and if you can't do that, buy Finnish! Just a guess though. |

Fiocchi “makes” two lines of 22 rimfire ammo- Made in Italy mostly high end competition ammo intended for Olympic type competition ( figure 10+ bucks a box at a minimum) typically rarely seen in the United States More recently marketed fiocchi 22 in things like the performance line or available in bulk packaging from places like bass pro/ cabela’s is not Italian but contracted manufacturing from other makers- most recent stuff I see is repackaged aguila with even the aguila headstamp Very similar to browning and herters branded ammo which is just repackaged low quality Winchester |
