$799 for a 2k when new gun. Will be surprised if it is still there when you go back. DW Valor is one of the best 1911's made.
Aside from checking any pistol for cracks and major dings, I would check for home bubba work. Make sure safety works - grip and thumb independently, make sure sear engagement is solid by pushing the hammer forward when fully cocked, and pulling back. Check bore for corrosion. There is no need for gunsmithing with a Valor, but you never know what people with dremels and internet access will do. |

If you are putting a lot of effort into arguing with me, you are probably really just wasting your time, sorry.

The Valor is a really nice mid-grade 1911. I carried one for a couple years. 100% reliable and accuate. You can always have it cerakoted later. Check the barrel rifling.

Hard to know anything from the two pics.
It may have been carried a lot, and shot very little. If that's the case, you should buy it yesterday. If it's a "rattler" with some extra "upgrades" added, then take a closer look. |

shiiiiiiittttt I would have snagged that in a heart beat. I would send it to DW (or at least pics) and ask how much for a factory refinish. or it would go to Fords for some chrome.....

Did they work on the price with you? When I bought my 3913, they wouldn’t budge. They said it would have to have been on the shelf for a while to deal on it.

At the price point, I can appreciate having a great 1911 that I don't have to worry about keeping flawless. Or I can look at it as I have such a low basis to start from. I got 10% off easily just asking if they had room, but any more would have required a call to the manager and I was pretty dang happy already. |

There were these two fellars standin' on a bridge, a-goin' to the bathroom. One fellar said, "The water's cold" and the other fellar said, "The water's deep". I believe one fella come from Arkansas. Get it?

That looks loads better!!
Whenever I buy a pistol with checkering I like to use a toothbrush with cleaner. Takes all the gunk out and makes it look like new. |

I would have FO’d right then.
Edit: should have kept reading. Damn nice find! |

You did very well OP. DW is as good as any 1911 on the market, better than some costing much more.
...although after 100+ years of production, it's hard to make a bad 1911. |

Very nice snag! Looks like previous owner put the trigger and grips from a dw tcp on it. Must be a newer production valor, the older valors didn't have a magwell, what is first 2 digits of serial? That's the year of production.

|
Congrats, OP! That's a great deal and you got a great pistol!

Damn! Great deal right there! Glad you were able to snag it!
Been looking at Dan Wessons real hard lately. |

Outstanding! That’s not much more than I paid for my Dan Wesson Pointman major back in 2002. If yours is as accurate as mine you’re in for a treat.

Salute the Marines.

DW makes badass 1911's for the price and for $780 you did well. Yes it's got cosmetic issues, but we'll just call it character.

Thanks for all the high fives everybody!
I will be shooting the heck out of the thing.. just have to buy some 45 first. A good buddy has a Dillon set up for 45 that I'm going to borrow as well. |
