I’ve got a trade deal pending, the guy is offering me a Para P10 in 45 with four magazines and a leather OWB holster. Looks like it’s been carried a lot, which doesn’t bother me. Would probably be my car gun honestly if worse comes to worse, or a gun range plinker, or trade it for something else.
I’m reading mixed reviews, should I go for it? The trade deal would be my Remington/Marlin 1895 45-70 (have two) for his Para with four magazines, holster, and $100 on top Attached File Attached File |

I had three paras.
Now I have none. I’m a little slow. Actually, my P14-45s ran fine. P16-40 was a total POS. I ask for a range session prior to trade. Or just pass. That Para is not going up in value. |

I have had two friends own those. One hated his, it really was unreliable with factory ammo. I watched him fight it.
The other loved his. It ran everything, even my old school 200 gr LSWC reloads. I shot it a bit, kind of liked it, but the grip was short for me. |

Hard pass on that deal.
Para's are known to run poorly, be finicky and depending on the model have a funky extractor that never seemed to work correctly. Since Remington bought them out parts have become more scarce. I think Sarco ended up buying most of what was left in inventory when Para closed down. |

Seems like a lot of anti-Para folks are posting this Para forum.
I currently have three Paras P14, P16, and P18 each of them run great, always reliable. I converted the P14 to a 45 Super and the P18 to a 9x23. Para is a great platform for these types of conversions. I traded a P13 I had for a Colt Commander in 38 Super because I wanted a 38 Super. Bad trade on my end the Colt was nothing but trouble. I do not have experience with the P10s but I would not hesitate to purchase a Para. |

I have the "Warthog" version of the P-10. (Later version) I bought it new several years ago. The main weakness in the gun was the 2 piece extractor. There is a kit available to install a bushing and conventional extractor. This solves most of the feeding / reliability issues. Mine feeds and cycles anything I put in it.
I like having 11 rounds of 45 goodness in a small package. It carries well in an IWB holster. The higher cap P-12/P-14 mags will work in it as well. (Obviously hang out the mag well a bit). FWIW....I wouldn't make the proposed trade. I'd keep the guide gun. |

I've owned several Para's over the years. P18 9mm P14 45 LDA single stack P16-40 Never did try the P10 just because it was so squat and awkward for me, but I still have my P14-45, works great. The other guns ran fine, just didn't seem to have any personality for me so I let them go. |

| My P14-45 was my last 1911 I sold a decade and a half ago before buying one again last year. Was the best out of a Springfield, a Colt and a couple of Kimbers. |
