Acquired a Sig in .45 at one recent point, decided I was too invested in 9mm and traded it off. Finally decided to scratch the 1911 itch in 9mm. Sorry JMB. Loved the DWXC, not close enough to my 1911 itch, Stacatto $$$, I might get bored with Tisas 1911. Prodigy 4.25 ported it is! Grabbed my first red dot on the cheap and a nice little light. No idea if I'll like RDS. Swapped out the 2 piece guide rod w/Dawson and added a EGW slide lock, SA was lacking some meat to be real useful for me. Oiled it up and put 100 target rounds down range. Ran flawless, feels great! Good nightstand gun for sure. I did notice a little stall when releasing the slide. Knowing nothing about 1911's, looks like the slide hitting the disco could be the issue. Read about the Marvel disco mod and thought, yeah, that's the ticket, run like it's on ball bearings. Except one thing, not gonna try it 1st time on a Prodigy! Tisas commander carry purchased. I'll machine on that one first. Maybe I'll shoot it before I tear into it  Pic of Prodigy and "The Traveler" (knives we build using cpm-154, g10 or micarta of different flavors for scales, sheaths all made in house). I did cheat and have stealthgear holster (stacatto) IWB, they are great! Good stuff, plenty to learn.  ETA: I think I'll match scales stippling to Prodigy grips - it might work (they are quite grippy now) |
Nice purchase OP I polished my disco where it contacts the slide, and also the slide itself where it contacts the disco, and it's like it not there now. |

I took some fine emery cloth and polished the bottom edge of the slide where it catches on the disco when going forward also. I forgot to add that. Just very light polish though because I don't think you want to cause it to possibly skip over pushing the next rd into the chamber. I could be wrong but I think that edge needs to be sharp enough to grab the next rd. I think that's why the mod they can do only bevels out enough for the with of the disco so you still have an edge on either side to grab the next rd. Where the red circle is in this pic.
