Hello! Sorry everyone life smacked me upside the forehead pretty good over the last month (in a good way), but it’s kept me from gun projects for a bit now. This project is a bit more on the backburner for the moment as my gunsmith is working on Project Martini first. Still in progress though! |

Correct, as long as you don't buy them together- not sure if an online retailer would say no, but supposedly places like Cabelas (even before Bass Pro ruined them) did if you were buying in the store. There are various conversion styles based on historic styles, some require you to modify the frame to accept a version with a loading gate while the most common have a separate backplate with five/six firing pins (one for each cartridge). I don't think any of the conversions are rated for more than the equivalent of BP loads and you shouldn't use them in brass framed guns, but, realistically, those loads put a lot of people and animals down. |

So now a centerfire, cased ammo revolver? The revolver was purchased as a percussion/BP gun, which isn’t considered a firearm so it was shipped straight to my door. The conversion cylinder is a component and not considered a firearm either, so also shipped to my door. Some online retailers won’t sell you both items in the same order, some will. From a legal standpoint as long as they’re shipped in separate boxes, you’re good to go. For example, the retailer https://muzzle-loaders.com/ will allow you to check out with both a percussion gun and a conversion cylinder in your cart, then they just split them up into two different “shipments”. By installing the conversion cylinder into the revolver, all I did was create a perfectly legal “home manufactured” firearm, same as completing a P80 frame |
