Question about older rock islands

Hoping to get insight on an older rock island 1911

For the ones that have the freakin billboard on the side of the slide, how deep is that engraving?

Could it be removed by media blasting? Like in prep for cerakote?

Depends on how deep. You may fair better by sanding the flats with 400 grit first and then bead blast.

Too deep to just sandblasting. Need to polish the flats to remove.

I darkened the printing on the side of the slide on my RIA 1911 A1 with cold blue. It really subdued the logo and I like it much better.

You’ll be all week with 400 grit. Start out with 180 and work your way up.

Here is a picture that shows three of my 1911 pistols, Top small logo RIA 1911 A1 in 9 mm, middle Tisas Tank Commander 9 mm, bottom RIA 1911A1 45 ACP billboard with cold blue to subdue the logo.
