Everyone has 2011s these days.
Few are true double stack 1911s.

I hear less mention of Para as each year goes by. If you got into them like 30 or more years ago-
It’s hard to see how forgotten they have become.

Well, I ran Paras in USPSA for quite a while, starting in the late ‘90s.

I mostly used a P16 in Limited Division.

I had a full blown .38 Super Open gun built on a Para frame. It was likely a .45 frame that had to be milled for a ramped barrel. I say this because it was cut for the STI ramp, not the Para ramp. I shot that gun until the frame cracked. I then had the top end installed on an STI frame.

I had a custom gun built on a P14 frame. I sold it plus a Glock 20 and some “hi cap” mags back during the Clinton ban. Together, it was enough to buy two M11/9 SMGs.

I still have the P16, and had been shooting it the past couple of years in USPSA Limited Optics, shooting .40 minor, with a dovetail optic mount.

But I recently bought a Kimber 2K11 for that division.

I’ll never forget Para. My buddy had a Warthog that made a Desert Eagle or a 454 feel tame.

I liked them and wanted one when they were new, but even the gun shop told me they weren't reliable. It seems like Para never really acknowledged the problem or put forth any effort to make them reliable.
The “Three Stupid” Rule: “Do not go to stupid places, with stupid people, and do stupid things”

Religion is a handy device for keeping the philosophically deficient in line.

I’ve had a few and heard that too.  All mine were full size and just worked.  I think the mag design was the weak point.
Clean and with a good spring, flawless.  Even a little dirt in the mag caused issues.  Still have a mag brush.

Also still have a P14 that was built on a frame kit and passed around a few guys in the pistol club.  Well used when I got it,
Then I used it to hit B class uspsa.  Still running, loose as heck.

If life was easy nobody would quit.

Pondering a P14 Black Ops v. Kimber DS Warrior in .45 ACP.
Haven’t see the Warrior in 45 out on the market, yet.
So the Para is going to likely be purchased in the near future.

I had a steel framed P12 that was made in 1993 or 1994 and it was extremely reliable.  I think the only time I had a jam was with some odd shaped wadcutter bullet.

My stainless P16 has been flawless.
