Picked up a pistol i purchased in an online auction. Turns out it’s an early 4 digit serial # made in 1956. It’s in very good condition. Seems to have more holster wear than shooting experience. First Blackhawks came out in ‘53, i think. Not a “Flat top” but it is a 3 screw, no warning etc. Just got her cleaned up!! This is the 4.65 barrel length.

Didn't think they offered  .41 mag in that time frame. Think what you have was built as someone's PPP  ( perfect packing pistol).

@The_Dog

OP, .41 Magnum wasn't introduced til 1964.

That can't be correct. The 41 magnum did not come out until 1964.

OP is correct, but the gun is not original, or the auction mislabeled the caliber and OP will be very surprised at the range.

I think the OP looked at the incorrect chart. Serial numbers are by caliber.
I have a no prefix 4 digit 41 Magnum Blackhawk 76XX.

Oops 1966 not 1956!
I could not get the Ruger site to work so I called. Got reading some other estimated dates and decided I heard her wrong. Guess I did not.

But yes, the auction had it labeled a new model and had it as a 44 also. It worked out as I am pleased with it. Yes a very nice packing gun.

I put the number in the box and it came back as couldn't find it, but another box came available lower on the page, found Blackhawk listed and the serial numbers showed by caliber.

Thank you!! Well 1966 seems to match up. The .41 magnums were like the red - headed step child at Ruger. Looks like this is an early one.

FIFY

Nice pistol.  Good find.  I really need to add some single actions to my collection.  That was something I was going to work on this Spring, but of course, life got in the way.

I recently bought a 3-screw Blackhawk in 41 Mag from an estate, this one was made at the end of the run in 1973. The guy had a bunch of them. This one is customized, it has a steel Super Blackhawk dragoon style grip frame and steel ejector rod dust cover. This thing is a beast.

I think I’m going to get a letter from Ruger on it, my buddy collects these and he thinks it may have been built like this at the factory using leftover Super Blackhawk parts.

I have been looking for parts to return it factory ship state. To remove transfer bar and correct hammer etc. I checked the usual but dont see any. Anyone Know where they can be had?

******update-parts found!!

Thanks

****** New Issue
Parts located and I have some written instructions but, You Tube has pulled all their videos for disassembly of old style trigger/hammer Blackhawks. Everything they show are for new model. The old model has different springs and where they attach. I will probably watch a Colt SAA video and it would be close. Anyone have one saved somewhere?
Also will post some new pics with
-correct grips
-new hammer
-new trigger

Also checking to see if it should have alloy or steel extractor assembly.

Thanks for looking!!
