New to me Model 1953 Chief's Special. Still doing some research and looking into a few things on it. Was told it's nickeled, but believe it to be aftermarket chrome. Locks up nice and tight. Timing appears spot on, and minimal end shake. Original serial number matching grips as well.

The only hyphenated names I like are cartridge names......30-06, 30-40, 38-55 etc.
Update - bought (used) a new production S&W Model 27 I had wanted for a while. Swapped the new grips (which I don't like) with original vintage target ones, as you'd find on several Model 27s and Model 28s Smith And Wesson Model 27 in .357Magnum by Solo__, on Flickr |

Local gun shop range has been getting used S&W's coming in at good prices. Here is what I pick up the last three range trips: 29-1 in mint condition. No box was biggest disappointment. Shoots/functions 100%. Makes me think of Clint Eastwood. $800 60 in very good condition. Cleaned up well. No box. Shoots well. $250 32-1 in mint condition, with box, manual, and box of ammo. I put the Hogue grips on to keep the originals from getting marred. Shoots like a 22LR. $300 Attached File |

Hello Everyone, If any of you have a S&W with a fitter stamp of T18 PLEASE reach out to me. That was my stamp when I worked there in Dept. 05 Hard fitting.  1987-1988 or so. None had a lock, all had a firing pin on the hammer. The stamp shpul be on the yoke and under the grip at the bottom on the left side when looking from the rear.
