What is the verdict? Seem a little expensive for what they are and not waterproof to even IP67? LGS has a G43x with one for an okay price, not great but sort of want to support them. But I'm not sure I like the Shield for a carry optic. |

I have an RMS that has been on several piatols over the past 6 years and still going strong. I went with the 8moa dot and would recommend the smaller 4moa dot. The positives are that the glass is crystal clear, the dot is very round even with my astigmatism, the battery life has been great, and the auto brighness works very well.. The only real con is that it is on the fragile side. One good drop would likely take it out of commission. Attached File Attached File |

Shield smsc came on a hellcat I bought in early May. Had every intention to replace it, but after 1300 rounds with no issues I kinda like it. Yeah its polymer, but so is 1/2 the pistol. Would I buy one starting from scratch, probably not, but its not a mandatory replace optic either, imo. |

| I have the glass rmsc on my 43x. It’s held up well and the auto adjust feature works really well. As others have said, not as robust as my rmr’s but it’s for my ccw. The glass is really clear, a little more expensive than the polycarbonate version. |

Expanding on this: After some more time with the SMSC im liking it more and more. I actually am starting to prefer it over my 507k. I like the wider window and its lower profile. The auto adjust is spot on too. |

There are quite a few native RMSc optics. Most are small, but you are going to see more options that are larger since the RMSc can be mailed on a lot of slim slides such as 1911 and 2011s. Gideon Judge XL 28x22.5mm window, 6moa dot Another freedom gorilla link This link shows all of the RMSc and modified rmsc (K-Cut) optics. Holosun (K-Cut) are listed first since that seems to be their main product, but they do carry a bunch of others including real Shield brand versions. Be advised that if the shield is available with glass or plastic lenses and metal or polymer bodies. New and inexpensive is the Osight SE (closed emitter) and the K (not sure if true RMSc or K-Cut). Their marketing and heavy use of compensated shills believe the bad taste in the mouth of many. But who knows, they might not be complete dog shit. Primary Arms has the 21mm classic series that are sometimes available for just over $100 in open box format. If you qualify for their discount, they're really not much higher, around $130 or so. Bottom mount battery sucks, but they're cheap. |
