I still have the factory grips and also the Hogue rubber grips with the finger grooves, full wrap around. Had the Hogues on it for years but I know there’s better. I have since gone back to the OEM grips and I do believe they fit me better. I have decently sized hands, not small but not gorilla sized either. What does the hive recommend? |

Heads up, the factory one-piece E2 grips have issues fitting some frames due to variation and have unacceptable gaps. You also may have to upgrade the hammer strut, main spring and mainspring plastic stop, depending on how old your 229 is. Just get the Hogue G-10 grips. |
| When I carried a 229, I had a Hogue grip on the left side and some aggressive brand on the right hand side otherwise it would sand down my carry side. Sold that pistol ~15 years ago, so don't recall what the aggressive grips were. I bought the pistol used. It came with the Hogue and other grips. I didn't like the Hogue on the outside because it would grip my shirt and cause it to ride up. |
| I didn't go through a lot but came back to the factory hard plastic grips being my favorite. The Sig laminate felt way too big even though they are only slightly bigger. Wasn't a fan of the Hogue soft rubber. I did feel some of the Hogue aluminums that felt good but never got to shoot with them. |

I like Hogue G10 most. All the others are super fat at the top as Sig is one of many European pistol brands that are still stuck on tea cup grip/heel mag release ergonomics. Avoid the E2 grips as they force your hand lower on the grip. People think they’re thin grips but they’re not. They just force the web of your thumb to the thinnest point (front to back) of the frame which keeps you from getting the highest grip possible. |
| I really like the factory plastic grips on the 229. I had rubber hogues on a 226 and found a used set of smooth walnut grips on ebay. Made it into a different pistol. Probably my favorite 9mm to shoot. Maybe try a set of wood grips. I think my wood grips might be Hogue. |

I have looked at other grips but the factory ones on my 90s era229 have always felt good for my hands so I've ever changed them out, but I do drool on some fancy rosewood grips I've seen. If I were to upgrade them for some kind of exotic wood. The 229 is my favorite carry. |

Same reason I avoid the short trigger. People say it all the time but I felt like the 229 was made for my hand. I carried mine for close to 15 years and only went away to save some weight. |
