That would be a model 29.

Pre 1982 manufacture due to the pinned barrel.

Post a photo of crane stampings. Looks to be a 8 3/8" bbl. that's pinned. Also has 3T's ( target trigger,hammer&front sight) don't think the early moder 29's had the 3T's as a matter of course.Pachmeyer grips so can't date it from them. Yes you can go to the S&W website and date w/ sn.

Post a picture of the SERIAL NUMBER ( to be 100% sure it is the one on the butt remove grips to see) then we can tell you more

The time it took for me to read this thread is longer than it would take to ‘pull’ the grips. One screw, OP. Thirty seconds with a screwdriver. You must be really really busy.

Did you check the frame for a model number? It will be on the frame, visible with the cylinder open, just forward of the cylinder.
