If you read the original manual and current manual you get two stories. The american manual says it protects the muzzle if it were to strike an object. Basically the guide would strike before the muzzle. The croatian manual states the the plunger prevent the slide from coming out of battery if the muzzle of the gun is pressed against an object. Basically if you press the gun against something and you want to discharge the hangun at zero distance it is less likely to come out of battery. |

My two new XDs.... Black gun is a .40 the other is a .45.... .40 came with the light. Both had the XD gear thing going. 2 mags, mag carrier, holster, and mag loader.

My XD40SC w/Heinie SlantPro Straight Eight Tritium Sights. I've put nearly 500rds thru it with no problem. When I carry it I prefer 2 speed strips rather than a bulky extra Mag.

A few pics of my V-10... The slide and small parts have all had a ceramic coating applied to them which I'm told is about 3x stronger than a duracoat finish with all the inlays, sans the serial number, in black. So far I havent seen any marks from putting it in and out of the holster. Barrel and guide rod are polished. Trigger breaks right at 3lbs. Tritium sights as well. 3000+ and never a hiccup.
