| Any lefties having issues with the right-side safety? While finger fucking it the other night it would hang up and not allow the safety to move to the fire position. I noticed that it looked like the 2 halves had slightly worked apart and any inward pressure on the right side lever would lock up the safety. If I pressed in on the left side lever, the safety would return to normal function. I drove the 2 halves together and it resolved the issue, but started doing it again after several cycles. |

Mine did that just messing around with it, to a point where the two sides became disconnected with each other. I got them back together, then noticed the upper "grip screw" on the right side had backed out a bit. I tightened it and all seems good now. |

I just got a new/unfired 5" Prodigy in trade yesterday. Racked the slide alot and worked the safety with dry fire as well. Going to disassemble and clean the ceracote goo out and re-lube. I'll run the slide for a few more nights of dryfire before going live. This is my first Double stack/2011 so I have no familiarity with these platforms. Upon working the safety Left-handed (offhand for me) the Left side safety literally fell off and hit the floor. I was able to get it back in place, reading this is a "normal" issue with these... When used Left-handed to activate the safety the entire assembly rotates up to Safe. When deactivating Left-Handed the right-side slides all the way down, but the left side stays halfway up and does not come off safe. The Left side of the safety has walked out about three times already just rotating the safety. I'm not sure if it should be shot before this is addressed, as I don't want to lose some tiny plunger/spring or the left side safety. I'll ride the safety when firing Right-handed and that ought to keep it in-place. But this is ridiculous that parts are quite literally falling off a brand-new unfired pistol. Any advice is appreciated |

It's not a common issue, it's just tolerance stacking that happens with that style of safety and isn't limited to Springfield, although they are probably the largest manufacturer using that type. |

I want to run a shit ton of rounds through it before carrying it to try and work out any kinks, but I may still call them and see if I can order a compact grip. Looks like they're pretty cheap from SA. |

Finally had a chance to get out, zero, and start to break it in. Only issue was two light strikes. Not sure if that's an ammo or gun issue.  25 yards. Bottom 3 rounds were offhand. My hands aren't steady enough to pull off a precise shot. The others were after I made a slight correction and braced off of my tailgate.

I followed their measuring guide and it was between the shortest and the next step up. I started with the shortest, it was too short for me, so I went one size bigger. It was backordered at the time, so it took longer to get. Now I'm happy with it. I followed their measuring guide and it was between the shortest and the next step up. I started with the shortest, it was too short for me, so I went one size bigger. It was backordered at the time, so it took longer to get. Now I'm happy with it. I didn't have to fit the vertical part of it, so it's not as tightly fit as my other 1911 triggers, but it's pretty good. My finger is right at the high end of the short one. I've been carrying an M&P for the past 15-ish years, so I haven't had to deal with grip safeties and have found that the grip on the Prodigy is thick enough that I fail to grip it properly and deactivate the grip safety if i try to get my finger comfortable on the trigger. I don't really want to go longer if I don't have to. |

I got a 5” comp model a few weeks ago and have put about 800 rounds thru it already. Great accuracy reported by everyone that has shot it with just the stock iorns. I fired mostly 115 and 124 grain FMJ ammo. I did have issues with 9mm nato ammo not always going off on the first hit but don't blame the gun much. I did replace the firing pin and spring with Dawson ones and had no further issues even with nato ammo. The original firing pin spring was noticeably longer and heaver weight. Compare to a 3.5 lbs Glock ghost trigger, the stock prodigy trigger is already a huge improvement. Have not decided on an optic yet it will be getting one soon. Being a comp model it is has the revisions of a later production gun. |

Another 100 down the pipe tonight. Of course, I forgot to swap in the new firing pin, but luckily, I only had one failure to fire. And my Aos plate stayed tight. Orange Loctite for the win. It was still zeroed even with the loose plate from the last session.

Got around to swapping out the trigger. Was a little concerned about the short trigger but once everything was back together, it felt good. You definitely can't adjust the pre-travel screws through the magwell with the slide off like I've read. Had to pop the beavertail out.

I was having problems with my Atlas tool-less guide rod locking back under recoil. My current spring setup is a 13# recoil spring and 19# hammer spring. I got my Dawson tool-less guide rod in today and noticed that the lock-back function was further down the shaft of the guide rod. I took it to the range and functioned flawlessly for 200 rounds. I think that my spring combination with the Atlas was allowing it to slightly hang-up causing the button to activate and lock the guide rod in the disassembly position. It seems to be fixed now. In other news, my AOS plate and rear sight came loose today as well as my fiber optic rod falling out. I re-torqued the plate and RM06 down with blue loctite. The plate at 20 in.-lbs. and the RMR at 15 in.-lbs. It looks like the set screw for the rear sight has fallen out, so I'll be emailing Springfield shortly. Also, my Surefire X300 Ultra lost both of it's buttons, but I was able to find one of them on the floor. i picked up a 5" last week on an impulse buy, i knew nothing about these other than hearing the name until after my first range trip and then i started reading lol. a 2011 was totally not on my radar, i had zero interest. i am now going down the rabbit hole of watching videos on tuning. does anyone that has replaced all of their oem parts want to sell them so i have something cheap to practice on? i took it to the range and ran 300 rounds of cci blazer brass 115. only issues were right at 250, it got gummy and the slide would barley function. a quick wipe down and light relube and all was normal. i was not aware the ceracote rubbing off the rails casing the slide to get gummy was a thing as i do not have any ceracoted guns. i also had 2 failure to extract. the slide hanging up on the disconnector when manually cycling the slide is kind of annoying, but that's unnoticeable when firing. the face of the trigger has a pretty aggressive texture. i took the trigger out and smoothed it down a bit, i just didn't like the way if felt on my finger. i wouldn't mind finding a new trigger shoe that is more square side to side. i don't like how it's rounded left to right, just feels weird. my rear sight was way left, so i had to drift it to the right, it also hits 4" high at 15yds using a "combat" sight picture. are these meant to use a "bullseye" sight picture? also noticed that the rear sight moved back all the way to the left after a few rounds after i drifted it to the right. i noticed i was hitting way left, drifted the sight, windage poi was good, then i started hitting left again. surely i wasn't snatching the trigger that bad, sight picture and follow thru felt fine...nope, damn sight moved lol. yes, the set screw was tightened. i also do not like how slow and lazy the recoil impulse is. should i go to a lower weight guide rod spring? |

I never shot my Prodigy with irons, but I have on my other Springfield 1911s and they all are 6 o'clock holds. |

I was an early adopter and nearly threw the damn gun over the berm till I figured it out. I pulled the bbl and recoil assembly, put some polishing compound on the rails and worked the slide like a 16 yo with his first porn. Cleaned it all off and lubed, it just runs now. IDK if springer will still send you a new, lower rear blade. They did for me. It helped but is still an inch high at 20. I despise the 6:00 hold stuff. If you put a dot on there would you have it at POA or 4” high? I don’t have any after pic, but this is what I sent springer customer service to get the new rear blade. There was no aftermarket back then, maybe now. I was about to file the top of the rear down. Attached File Mine is a 4.25” so your recoil spring weights are different, but I bought a pack of 12/13/14, I *think stock is 14 on mine. That’s where it’s at now. I’m gonna hang onto the factory parts for spares. i'm pretty handy but have zero F-ing patience, so i'll forgo the polishing the rails lol and i'll let the shooting do that. yeah, i'm not sure if i'm going to like like the 6:00 hold when everything else i have (im a glock shooter) is "combat" hold. i do plan to get a red dot, but i'ts not a priority at all and i am in no hurry. i have one pistol with a red dot, a glock G45 COA, everything else is iron sights; carry guns, my other glock G45s. new iron sights will be a priority if i decide to keep this thing. i'm not a trigger snob, to me, the trigger system is fine, i don't think it's holding me back (i'm not that good of a shooter, but capable. to my fudd friends, they think i'm some damn hero lol) i was just looking for cheap left over parts to practice for something to tinker with. |

I bought one too, early on. Randomly locking the slide open was my issue too. I took it out and put the stock back in, called atlas and bitched about it. They offered a return label, said they had the fix. Stronger spring. Promptly pushed it to the back of the bench and forgot about it. Probably return it now. And yeah Corey, you can just shoot the snot out of it and the ceracoat will wear down. |
