I just got an email that Taurus is releasing the “Deputy”, a blued SAA clone with a 5.5” barrel with a .357/.38 cylinder, and a 9mm cylinder. Anyone else know anything about this? |

Interesting. I'm slighthly interested, only because I like .357/.38 + 9mm revolvers and my newer Taurus model 692 has proven well made and performs very well with both cylinders/calibers. ROCK6 |

Okay, the 90's Taurus called and wants their disgruntled customer back  Unless you have tried something in the past couple years, your advice is a little outdated. I'm not trusting Taurus blindly, but both my TX22 and 692 revovler have been flawless, great QA/QC and solid performance. Always buy with caution, but Taurus does seem to have turned the corner on their past production SNAFUs. I can't comment on their customer service because I haven't needed them. Back to the OP. Evidently the "Deputy" model has been out since last year but the 9mm swapable cylinder version is new. I'm not a "cowboy" shooter, but I do like a good six gun especially with the option of adding 9mm. ROCK6 |

| Considering the 692 I picked up specifically for 9mm shooting is quite accurate, I'd not have any concerns about the Deputy. The lack of accuracy with 9mm in a 357 revolver isn't going to come from the .355" vs .357" bore, it's going to come from improperly chambered and throated cylinders. A converted 357 cylinder is going to have huge freebore due to the case length differences. That's gonna cause the accuracy issues most folks are concerned about. |
