| I don't have any interest in a new double stack frame, but if someone like Magpul were to make an aftermarket magazine similar to the old Ramline ones using a flat spring and maybe an extended base plate for a very doable 12-14 round capacity I'd buy a sack full. |

I don't know anyone that would choose the ten round gun. We see it play out with all kinds of guns spanning all kinds of uses. There's basically no downside to added capacity as you can always download should you wish to do so for whatever reason. |

Many on this site have said over and over that they wouldnt buy a ruger Mark series gun solely because it only holds 10 rounds. Capacity is just one metric to judge a firearm by. By that logic you would choose a gun that holds more than ten rounds but has shit ergos and shit accuracy and a shit trigger over a highly accurate sweet shooting pistol. For what reason? The only reason to choose capacity over all else would maybe be in a defensive or combat pistol. These are .22s. Plinkers and small game hunting guns. That logic would also mean no one would ever buy revolvers. Which we all know many people own and love to shoot. |

It's not an either or it would be the same gun. Take your revolver example and look at how popular increased capacity revolvers are. When they did 10 shot 617's and 8 shot 317's people loved them. Neither are for defense. |

Yes, I use my 22's for plinking and because of that, I'd much rather have a 20rds capacity MKIV then be limited to 10rd. And BTW, semi auto rimfires out sell revolvers by at least 10-1 and you must know, capacity is one of the big reasons why. This is not an either/or question. Nobody in their right mind would pick a 10rd capacity gun if they could get the same exact gun but with a 20rd capacity and that's going to be true regardless of what they plan to use the gun for IMO. |

I received this response from the product manager: Plumber576, Our CEO, Mr. Killoy asked that I drop you a line to address the issue of increasing the Mark IV magazine capacity. This is a request that we get frequently. Magazine development is one of the most difficult aspects of designing a firearm. Factors such as grip angles, widths, cartridge shapes and lengths, bullet shapes, rim type, etc are all factors that will change the design and capacity of a magazine. In some cases, like in the Mark IV, the sum of those factors can introduce severe limitations. The grip angle and width of the Mark IV limit the number of rounds that can be loaded in the magazine before the bullet nose of the cartridge at the top of the magazine presents too low to feed. There are things that we can do to increase the number but it will still only add an additional two rounds. And, depending upon ammunition type, the bullet nose dipping may be problematic. With all of that said, we are looking at some creative options to solve the problem. But they will likely involve moving away from the traditional Mark Series pistols. I hope this helps explain why Ruger hasn’t introduced a higher round magazine. It is a complicated issue of physics and space. Please let me know if you have any further questions. I knew the idea would be a challenge, and unfortunately, it sounds like one Ruger won't be taking on anytime soon. Still, I appreciate their taking the time to respond. If you haven't yet, I'd encourage you to still send a message letting Ruger know an increased-capacity Ruger Mark pistol is worth the time and effort. Sounds like in a year or two they will have a new rimfire pistol, because as they solve problems to get you your 15 or 20 round mag, it creates more problems to stay wedded to the MK series of uppers. I wouldn't be discouraged, it sounds like they are working on exactly what you want (a higher capacity Ruger rimfire pistol). |

Waste of time trying. seems like Ruger stopped listening to its customers when Bill Ruger died and his kids took over. I mean they didn't even make the mark4 compatible with old Gen mags. I was initially excited when l heard it was coming out but when I found out l would have to buy new gen4 mags l said fuck that Now with some many better options out there why bother. I still own and shoot my mk3 22/45 but won't bother getting another. |

I do wish the 22/45 mags would have stayed the same but I'm guessing they had a reason. |

They are much more open to new idea's and giving customers what they want then Bill ever was. Bill only offered what he personally wanted or liked. |

This is happening. I don't know when, I hope at SHOT, but the patent is approved. https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/ruger-awarded-double-stack-22lr-magazine-patent-44824750 |

I went with a S&W victory and am very happy with it, easily on par with the MKIV. It seems some companies have cracked the code on making a high capacity 22 reliable- not easy with the rimmed cartridge ! The best logic is to maybe take an existing high cap proven to work, and create a lower compatible with the ruger upper. In this unusual case the fact the upper is the serialized part means replacement grip upgrades for the higher capacity could be shipped directly to customers with no FFL involved, a huge bonus. I tend to think of ten round mags as sufficient for my purposes but that might not be the case for someone else. Having options is great - I am not super old ( hope to get there some day!) but do remember when carry gun choice was a 1911 or revolver ( with a smattering of S&W 39/59 series guns and high powers) and in those days a gun that was reliable with hollow points was a rare gem. Now we have dozens of guns to choose from that are. |
