Looking for one for my 1918 made 1911 pistol.

Reproduction is preferred due to what a “real” one would cost.

Pretty much just for carrying at the range for occasional shooting.

Other than eBay, anyone know of any others? Since it would be so occasional, looking to keep it to $50 or less.

Thanks!

That’s the one I have. “JQMD” is their imported stuff. It’s very well made.

M1916 doesn't have a swivel though.

The M1912 had the swivel.

You already spend the money on a genuine 1918 M1911, $100-$150 for a genuine M1916 holster is not too expensive. Many available on eBay. No reason to buy el cheapo Chinese import. And I think it's inappropriate to pair a 1918 with the Chinese made M1916.

I didn’t pay a dime for the pistol. It was my ex fil’s.

I only shoot this pistol about every 2-3 years as it resides in my gun safe.

If I’m going to spend  a hundred or more, it’s going to be for a pistol I carry/shoot more often.

As for genuine 1916’s, most I see are very rough which is understandable due to age. I also know that reproduction 1916’s have been around for a very long time and that faking a truly authentic 1916 is not terribly difficult. I don’t have the time, the expertise or know anyone that could authenticate one for me.

In short, a reproduction (inexpensive) will suffice.

Thanks for your opinion.

El Paso Saddlery makes the finest replicas and they're equal or better then a USGI made during peacetime when quality was high.
The El Paso uses original USGI specification copper and brass fittings, not pot metal or steel like most others.
They offer the Model 1916 Dismounted (Infantry) holster as their model 1940, and the Model 1912 Mounted (Cavalry) swivel holster as their model 1911.

Most everything else is Chinese, Pakistan, or India, and often smells bad due to the "natural" (don't ask) tanning chemicals.

OP,

I have some used ones I’d be happy gifting you if you don’t want a new holster. My Great (2X) Grandfather founded Walter Boyt Saddlery, now Boyt Harness Co, and I inherited a large portion of the family firearm and leather/canvas goods collection.  I have no idea if the holsters were GI issues or just family used, but if you are wanting a genuine M1916 piece made by the most prominent WWI and WWII US based company then I can help.

It's very gracious of you to offer to buy the man a genuine M1916 holster, even if it isn't very expensive.  I'd like to pitch in, I'll cover postage from your house to his.

That is very kind of you. One reason I hang around, everyone gripes about some aspects of this site but it's actually chock full of damn good people.
Liberals are a curious mix of communism and fascism, they want to destroy you but want to use your own money to do it.

I'm getting down to the last box, the others have all been destroyed...

Adding some pictures for OP. Love seeing an old pistol with its intended leather.
