Anyone have one?
Looking into one in 38 special,I don’t own any 45 LC. I have 38special.
Looking into 5 inch bbl. Thinking 7 inch would be to front heavy like the SW686/586 in 6 inch bbl.
Does the importer make a difference? Taylor’s and co, navy arms ect

Your thoughts

I had one for a while in 45 colt.  It was absolutely beautiful and was very accurate using underwood standard pressure.

I have one in .45 that is an extremely well made and well fitted gun.  Only 2 complaints: 1, Complicated hammer block "safety" which was easily disposed of; 2, Gun does not handle black powder loads due to the lengthened cylinder which accommodates the .45 Colt cartridge.  No fix for that other than smokeless loads.  Don't know if that applies to .38 Special or not.

I agree that the 5 1/2 inch barrel, especially in .38 would probably handle better.  My .45 is a 7 1/2 inch and is definately a big gun.

Is there a difference between the importers

Don't remember which manufacturer mine is from.  It is 45 LC and I later learned that to fit that cartridge the makers removed some original feature which deals with fouling.  Two-three shots of black powder and the cylinder will not turn.

Slightly. Generally speaking, Pietta is finished nicer on the insides and Uberti is finished nicer on the outside. Both are great bargains.

I think you are looking at Uberti only. And importer shouldn't make any diff.
I have a 5" 45colt.
It's worth the money.
I need a nickle 5" to go with .

Smith with all their "back to our roots" bullshit .
They should have done the Schofield not some gay ass lever gun.
Figure out a dinguss to make it double action.
Bam best modern DA in existence right there.
Then they would put a fucking hole in the side.

My Cimarron Schofield in 45 Colt.  An outstanding revolver.

That looks very nice. Is the 7inch bbl front heavy?
Do you have an issue ejecting rounds with the 45 LC cartridge due to the rim?

The grip angle makes the balance very nice, good length of pull.  I shot a friend's nickel Uberti .45C and it shot to point of aim.  I built the bullets to keep him from blowing up his gun with the hunting loads that were available at the covidian time.  I loaded him a few hundred for the cost of one box.  Gun shot exactly to point of beercan with SASS/CAS level loads.

I wanted the .38, but since I now have dies, I will buy whichever one I run upon first.  I like the shorter barrel due to esthetics, but the longer one worked fine.  Great guns!

Ejection was no issue, but if I were a SASS gamer, I would shoot with shortened cases.  Why you worried about ejection?

Gamers aren't going to pick that gun, most likely.  Don't worry about ejection.

Taylors has the best customer service.  First hand experience.  I have a lot of their products. If you have an issue, turnaround is fast.

I bought a nickel gun one time at a match.  I didn't like how easily it scratched and they swapped it out with a blued gun, which I still have.  Lots of rounds through this.

Maybe have a look at: New Model #3 American

The latch is different than the Schofield on the American.  Me personally i like the latch on the American & Russian better than the Schofield: the user has to push the latch UP to unlock the cylinder/barrel to reload.

Versus with the Schofield: if the user overreaches the hammer in a pressure situation instead of cocking the Schofield you just dumped your cylinder.

Never had an ejection issue, except with some poorly made dummy rounds I purchased.

I am not a large person, but have no issue with the weight of the pistol or any front heavy tendency.

As to the latch being different on the Schofield, do remember that the changes to it from the regular No. 3 were done to make it a better combat sidearm for use by cavalry, not a tool for gun golf.  If S&W only had not been so pissy about using a cartridge designed by it's competitor Colt, the Army would have ended up with a much better weapon for military use than the slow loading SAA.  I call mine my "American Webley".

In many of the old reproductions, you won't have a muzzle heavy revolver as long as it's 45.
I own a 1875, colt open top 1872 and an open top mason conversion with longer barrels in 45 colt.
Bigger hole less weight.
But I still like 4" modern revolvers and my 5" Schofield better.

Now if you go 38, I am not sure how that would be because I don't own one.
