Been shooting 40's for over 20 years and have never ever had any issues .
I've had two kabooms with .40 in Glocks. Ive also carried them for 20+ years. Had to give up my p226 for one. One was an issued g23 and then with my personal g23. Both with factory ammo. Each gun had three different serial numbers (slide, barrel, and frame). Once one blows up in your hands with no fault of your own, it doesn't really inspire confidence. I dont care if it's the gun or ammo. Let alone twice. You always have that in the back of your mind. So glad we dumped them back to 9mm. And I thought 10mm light was bad. I personally don't own anything in .40 now. Never saw a need for it. Want more ammo, get a wonder nine. Want something bigger, get a .45. |
| I’ve had both. I love the VP9 and did not care for the VP40. Maybe if I had the 40 first and was not spoiled by the VP9 it would be different. I much prefer the P2000 in 40 over the VP40. The only reason to look at the 40 is if you have tons of 40 ammo to burn up or love the 40 round over 9mm for some reason. The VP9 is a much better shooter to me. David |
| I have both and I like shooting them equally. Never had a problem handling .40 and like the round. My VP9 is threaded, so extra cool factor there. The VP fits my hand out of the box, so perfectly, it’s my go-to right now. The width of the VP40 keeps me from conceal carrying it. |

Since starting the thread I've had the opportunity to shoot both side-by-side a couple of times. The recoil impulse is actually quite different. The VP9 is abrupt but does not rise as much. The impulse ends sooner. The VP40 has a smoother and less abrupt push, but the recoil takes longer and pushes the gun up more. That's just my impression. Overall I think I like the VP40 a little bit better, but not by much. |
