Just picked up a Springfield Mil spec 1911. Does the Wilson Combat “drop in” beaver tail grip safety actually just drop in? Or is their really fitting required? Does anyone have this they’d be willing to share pics of? |

I bought a Cylinder and Slide beaver tail grip safety and it was every bit a drop in procedure. When placed in the gun, it looked like it came from the factory that way. Granted it was an entire kit- leaf spring, sear, disconnector, etc.. C&S makes great quality stuff. The downside to getting a plain Jane 1911 is that it will cost you more in the long run if you decide to upgrade the parts or customize it. You could always sell your gun and use the funds to get the gun already made to the way you want it. I speak from experience and I am sure most people here will tell you the same. There is nothing wrong with buying a plain gun but it depends on what you want to use it for-ccw, recreational shooting, competition,etc., and how much it will cost you in the end. If you aren't well versed with 1911 parts, trying to fit parts could be an issue. |
