I've got a P07, some CGW innards (really only needed springs)...other than needing to soften the right side decocker so it wouldn't rub against the top of my trigger finger and give me blisters right above the knuckle where it contacts me, it's been great - this is my 3rd bite at this particular apple. One of the ones I had I moved on because of some issues and I couldn't trust it anymore, and the first one I had I moved on because I wasn't into DA/SA guns...got it to run it cocked and locked, but the thumb safety was just too small for me to actually activate at speed with any confidence. This one though has been great. But it's not got an optic. I was debating sending it for an optic cut, but the P09C has since dropped... Other than the optic cut (it's what, an RMS-C optic cut? So only a few optics will fit it by default?), it's got the changed stippling on the frame which seems like a win to me... But, otherwise - is it worth spending the money and getting that and moving the P07 on, or just keeping the 07, getting it cut for an optic, and maybe some grip tape? Brain is saying "optic cut and grip tape are cheaper"...but it's also saying "But if you decide to sell it, none of that will actually make the gun worth any more and it'll be money just set on fire" There's also the thing in my brain saying "But you've already got a worked over PX4, why do you want this"

The Nocturne has better frame polymer. Get it. I'd recommend getting rid of the P07 before it ages out. I recently bought a P09 Nocturne because it felt like a polymer frame should. And I really like the CZ ergonomics. The P09 series is no longer sqeezeable (word?) like the P07 was. Years ago when the P07 first came out, I bought one. We had a fun thread about my misadventures here in Tech. My P07 was one of the <1000 P07s made and it was so soft, after 600 rounds, the frame distorted to the point that the gun started jamming. And magazines wouldn't drop free. CZ replaced it under warranty, but I instantly ditched it NIB as a partial trade for a HK P30. CZ improved the polymer over the production run, but the P07 was always made with a softer than typical firearms polymer. I seriously doubt your P07 will remain shootable +40 years from now, the way a 1st gen Glock is. |
| Eh...so I bought one from Buds for 490 using their ACH payment option...yeah it's only the 10+1 round version, but it's cheap enough for me to use the savings to buy a bunch of CGW parts to get it to the same cost as the 15+1 round version so it works out. I've already got a bunch of P07 mags anyway. CGW parts already on order (really just their spring/firing pin package; it's really all it needs), and now to shop for an appropriate optic...the easy button is a Holosun, I guess? |

I had a 2nd gen P07 for a few years that was nice enough, the polymer felt sturdy but it was too slick, or slippery, so I sold it. I also remember some of the early SP-01 Phantoms having bending issues that was apparently fixed when they did the second run of them. Would love to see how the Phantom is holding up in Czech military service as it is they're issued handgun. |

I went with a Vortex Defender ST OpMod - Optics Planet special, for "cheap", on sale. Should be the DPP/RMSc footprint which should fit just fine.The current price on Amazon is $20 more than I paid for it on sale - the shipped price was within a penny of it's current buy price. Either way, cheaper than a Holosun 507K. Worst case, I'll pick up a Holosun for not much more if this one doesn't work out. |
