In the middle of shopping for a double-stack Makarov, afaik, these were all imported with an adjustable rear sight. Would like to convert one of these to an original military, fixed rear sight configuration, but that would involve welding up a good portion of the rear slide, then cutting the dovetail for a rear sight install. Pickings are slim, and it may be a while until I find a suitable pistol, but I figure I'd start looking for a smith. Does anyone have a recommendation for someone who may be able/willing to do this kind of work? |

I would solder a filler with the sight dovetail so the modification is reversible. Leave the elevation hinge lugs intact. If you care about the appearance after welding, it's not likely to be satisfying. Don't be surprised if the slide function is affected. |
