A few more things guys and gals. We are going to try to provide some food for the days but we would like everyone to bring a passing dish for each day you attend. This way we will have plenty of food for everyone. Anybody that can bring a cooler of bottled water to share would be appreciated. I will be bringing a couple of coolers with a few cases of water and ice in them. We also need some tables. Does anyone have a hookup? I have a truck that can transport some. Still looking for anyone to be a Range Officer. I would like to do it in shifts so that everyone has a chance to join the festivities. I will fill some time for one spot as an R.O. Anyone else want to volunteer? This year should be a great time and I just found out we have a camera guy taking pictures and video. There will be waivers for people that do not want their picture or video and he can edit you out if that is what you choose. Looks like I'll be there at least on Sat. I would be happy to RSO again as well Thank you! I will add you to the list. |

HOGAN GUNS Diamond Head Sights Eberlestock Jard Inc. Paul over at Hogan Guns is the man! Hogan is graciously donating some stuff as well. **See first list as I'm updating as I contact people.** |

I just thought of something..... Since this is a two day event, can anyone from the area comment on area hotels. Camping is great, but those of us with family's, some may prefer hotels. My son & I are all about a sleeping bag and stars and the smell of cordite. My wife & daughter are another story......... I'm trying to convince them about the great out doors for this, but figured perhaps locals could comment on area hotels. A quick goggle search tells me that you want to avoid the local "Days Inn" unless you don't mind bed bugs, hookers with STD's, someone from the hotel stealing your credit card number and maxing it out, and possibility of getting mugged. Any locals care to add anything? I figured this was a worthwhile topic to include for this shoot, at-least for those bringing family's.

Great idea arcticwarrior. I can comment on a few places in Jackson that are decent. The Fairfield and the Hampton. I think they both have a complimentary breakfast. They are about a 30 minute drive over to Albion.
Marshall may be closer with some nice hotels but I have never stayed over there so I won't comment yet. I will see what I can find. I would definitely avoid the Albion hotels... Quoted:

Also, Trek from Raven concealment will be showing up Saturday with some swag and some MDFI certificates Thanks Trek! |

What????? I don't have to cut 10 acres of grass this year?
Not sure if I can make this one. Might take some fancy calendar work. |
|
I won't be able to attend this year. I will be in Amsterdam. Bummer.
|
|
Jeez, the ONE week of mandatory on call this summer and it's this week. I'd love to come but there is no way. Only about 30 minutes from home also.

I just noticed that that picture doesn't show a piston in the Octane - but we are including a piston of your choice as well.
I wish we could make it out there to join you guys! |
|
Not sure how I missed this thread. I don't see the cost, what to bring listed (may have missed it), targets available etc. I can bring my camera, take some pics.
I assume, legal rifles, handguns are welcome ? Not sure I can make both days. |
|
I am very interested and had a few questions (totally new to such a gathering\shoot) but been to SLOC before.
Is the cost finalized yet? Are the prizes only for IDPA winner, or is some of it simply drawing\luck.. I don't know squat about IDPA Approx. what round count is needed for such a shoot? Thanks - hope these questions are not inappropriate for the thread |

Rustic camping available on site for another $10 for Saturday night. Targets would be nice to have some extras of. We do already have a camera guy. Yes, legal rifles and handguns are very welcome. If you have anymore questions let me know and hope to see you there :) |

This sounds like a BLAST, no pun intended.
Should be able to make it, plus a few. Should be a good way of getting back into the Michigan swing of things since I just got back to MI. |

Thanks - hope these questions are not inappropriate for the thread Sorry, I must have missed your post. The cost is $10 to get you in both days. $10 extra for overnight camping. Some prizes will be for the competition but not many. We understand most people are not competitors and are therefore will not have a great chance of winning anything. Most of the prizes will be raffled off with tickets that you can purchase. You will get one for just being there and paying the admission fee. Round count is up to you. If you are competing, I would bring a couple hundred for rifle and the same for pistol. It will be a two-gun style competition. Hope this helps. |

I will also put a link up on the ACTS board, I am in the midst of thinking up a couple stages like ACTS (2 gun) possibly having one each day. I hadn't paid all that much attention, since I was going to be out of town that weekend. But now it looks like I'll be getting home a few days early, and will have absolutely nothing to do that weekend (saturday, anyway). Have you decided the format on the 2-gun match yet? ACTS rules, IDPA, USPSA, SMM3G, etc.? Need to know what kind of gear to bring. Since it's not at the Centerline range, is there going to be a full-auto division? Also, someone want to send me the location info? I might have missed it, but I didn't see it in the discussion. |
|
Yes, there will be a full auto division, It may be small. It may have to leave early Saturday.
What time do the gates open? What time does the line open up? George |
|
Rules will be based off of ACTS shooting which will be explained at the event. I suppose we could have a full-auto division
I am still in the planning stages of how the matches will exactly be set up but it will be a blast I promise Location: Spectacle Lake Outdoor Club 11450 25 1/2 Mile Road. Albion, MI 49224 |
|
Cool. Any idea what time we will need to be there to shoot the match? I'll be flying in the night before, and it's about a 2-hour drive to get there.
|
|
I am planning to attend at least one day, probably Saturday.
I am planning to volunteer to RO part of the time. Put me on the list. I would like to shoot in the FA division though, so don't have me volunteer opposite that. Rob Reed IM me if needed |

The matches will be held for the duration of the main shoot and you can shoot them at your leisure. We have more than just the one range there. Hope this helps. |

Thanks Brad, I will be talking with you soon on some things. For anyone willing to help can so I can get a tally of who can do what, please email me at [email protected]. I'm Chad. I will also put a link up on the ACTS board, I am in the midst of thinking up a couple stages like ACTS (2 gun) possibly having one each day. I think that's a great idea to get more gun brothers out to this event! This is NOT just an AR15.com member only event, all are welcome! Thanks to forrest0872 (Brad), CNZ302, arcticwarrior and all the other people making this happen! |
|
I spoke with CNZ302 and this IS a family friendly event. Bring your wives out to shoot. If they don't like shooting, they can stay up front with my wife and another members wife and greet people, then get bored and go shoe shopping like last year.... Bring your older children if they are responsible. If your children are demon possessed hellions then leave them at home as they don't mix with firearms.

I thought everyone is invited?
The more the merrier? As a sponsor, and I think all of those that are also sponsoring this event would agree that it's for advertisement. I mean lets be honest. I would love to just give stuff away all day everyday. I would be loved by all and so would the rest of the sponsors. But that's not how you put food on the table. I see lots of "advertisement stuff" that you've received like stickers, hats and even a Frisbee or ten. If the plan is to limit the exposure, which is fine, were the rest of the sponsors notified of this before hand because I wasn't. |

If the plan is to limit the exposure, which is fine, were the rest of the sponsors notified of this before hand because I wasn't. No sir, it was advertised as the "AR15.com Michigan Hometown Forums Range Days." At-least that's what was on the ton of e-mails that I sent out requesting sponsorship and donations. dougwg, I had no idea that you were sponsoring, thanks for your support. Were not trying to limit exposure at all. It's quite the contrary. The object isn't to put advertisement & pics on everybody else's website though. The object is to make them come here if nothing else so we can give the traffic to the generous people who run AR15.com as well as their sponsors as they were nice enough to lend us their name for this event. PLUS, if people are going to advertise on every other website and link it to here, IMO they are cheating AR15.com of the traffic and potential business. Let them come here and surf around to find it, generating traffic for AR15.com. After-all, the majority of the sponsors that have donated, have paid AR15.com for the right to have add space and forums. That's just my observation though. Ohh, and if it's gonna be linked all over the place, then we NEED more volunteers please. The more the merrier, especially if the possibility includes several hundred plus people. That's great for the sponsors as I want you guys to get as much business that you possibly can out of this, especially you small business guys. I want to generate a ton of buzz for ya. Never-the-less, we will need more volunteers then. |
