Rest In Peace Wayne.
The world is a sadder and less cheerful place without your friendly smile and voice to greet everyone. |
|
I never got to personally meet Wayne / ETH, but I was looking forward to doing so at the next Hun Farm Shoot.
He and I crossed paths over several forums on the board and while we agreed on some things and disagreed on others, I always respected the intellect of his arguement and his passion for his principles. You can often tell much more about a man, not while he is with us, but after he leaves us. Wayne left the imprint of his large and loving heart on us all. We have all lost a friend, a mentor, and a man who will be missed. I take some small comfort in knowing that he went quickly and without pain to his Maker. Lord Jesus, another shepard has returned to your green pasture. I know you will welcome him with love and open arms, much as Wayne greeted those in his life, friends and strangers alike. Rest In Peace Wayne. I can't make it up for the funeral, but will there be a memorial fund that I might donate to his family? BIGGER_HAMMER |

Once the family has been spoken with, and thier wishes expressed, plans will be made. TRG |

Brother Wayne, I dont share in your skill with words.... I cant say it.... so I wont even try.
Goodbye my friend. I will miss you. I will always remember you and smile. You changed my life, among so many others you have impacted. But I know you would not want sorrow left behind in your passing. You would demand we would rejoice in where you are now, with our Savior, in whom you so faithfully believed. And, for us to rejoice in the memories we have, all due to your graciousness. I will end, with some memorable Hun Farm quotes.... from previous threads. Some said by Wayne, some to him. I think he would like that. "Come on Wayne, there’s only a couple of us. What can go wrong?" "Hey Wayne, I'll have some more Windex." "Hey Wayne, didn't you use to have a tree there?" "Who was snoring?" "Was that scooter, or Eric?" "That's my chair." "Eased him over the side" ~ EricTheHun "Toronado!!!!!" "I'll bet they heard THAT over at the state park." "Ok, who wants Windex?" (five hands go up) "Ok, thats about a dozen Windex's" "I'm sitting back here so you all can't pick on me" - The Hun "Who wants some top shelf?" --ETH "Do not drink the blue water, LT" "I told you not to drink the blue water..." "go on the other side of the cabin! Hear me? The other side of the cabin!" - Eric The(LoudMouthed)Hun "Winder's up" - StykUrHedUp "Yeah, my partner was over in the next propert, hunting turkeys.... and he heard yall start shooting. Then, later, he said he heard SOMETHING that sounded like cannon fire!?!?" - Game Warden "There are two rules to abide by, in order to sleep in the cabin..... one:......" - ETH "Even taking a shower with Eric The Hun is wonderful!" - Brass "I have not yet begun to drink beer" - TxRdNeck "You can't drink all day if you don't start first thing in the morning." "Cocaine isa helluva drug." "We have an opinion from the Marinez that fire is hot." "What happens at the Hun Farm stays at the Hun Farm." |

Thank You TRG for letting us know when the family has considered it.

Strange how the loss of someone you had only met and talked to a few times can leave such a hole in your heart.
Rest in Peace my friend. Gop(we will all miss him so)her I think I will miss reading that sig line as much as anything. Others my try to copy it but there can be only one. |

Truer words were never spoken. I at least got to go to a Hun Farm shoot before Wayne got away from us. I had also met him on a training trip I took to the DFW area. He introduced me to a lot of the DFW crew and took me to Bone Daddys. He told the girls that worked there that it was my birthday (it wasn't, but he was michevious like that) and I still have the picture of all those honies surrounding me. Thank you for that Wayne, for the one Hun Farm trip I got to make, and for just being a hell of a nice guy. Thank you for allowing me to come to the shoot and meet a lot of really nice Texas people and some from other states as well. You will be missed very much, my brother. |

I'm not sure what to say or think. I somehow feel I have lost something important, allthough I have never met ETH.
Kinda weird, huh? I enjoyed reading his post, and eventhough I never made to a shoot, admire that he would host them. Says a lot for his sport/hobbie. I cannot imagine missing someone I have never met or spoken to, but I will. To the family, I mourn for your lost. Hang in there, and celebrates ETH's time with you. Travis |

CORRECTION: Grave side services will be held in Crowell on Thursday at 11:00AM.
I will update you as I get more info. FALARAK is working on getting more details. |
|
Will he be laid to rest at the farm? I ask because Crowell is right by the farm. |
|
|
From Clyde via email: "Just to let you know, Wayne passed away this afternoon at 1:15. We will have graveside services at Crowell, Texas this Thursday at 11:00 AM.....Clyde" TRG |

In Texas, you can specify a protion of your property as a cemetary. I do not think that the Hun Farm has any land designated as such. You cannot bury a body, in Texas, without placing it in a legal cemetary. I doubt he will be placed on the Farm. Knowing Wayne, and having seen him try to run, he doesn't need anything to trip over while chasing Scooter. TRG |

I will be unable to make any services in TX. I never met the man in person but we did talk a few times in PM's about this and that. I respected his opinion and looked forward to his posts. Please let me know if there is an address that we may send flowers to or a fund for contributions to be sent to.
Wish i could have made it to one of the Hun Farm shoots. R.I.P Eric The (missed) Hun. -Derek & Dawn (Sciencedork) |

I'll be unable to make services but the Cobb family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

|
I don't think anyone can improve on that. |
|
|
Me and Swampthing (Nick) will be there on Thursday.
I feel that I'm a better person for knowing Wayne and wish to express my condolencences in person. I know that his two trips to the Hun Farm have made a huge impression on Nick. God Bless Wayne for his generosity. I wish there was more that I could do. |

As a country song says: (paraphraded) "it is not what you take when you die,but what you leave behind...."
Wayne leaves a legacy of intelligent posts, generosity and Texas hospitality which he shared with many of us. A kinder, gentler soul is hard to find. God keep our brother |
|
Just to be clear: ALL ARE WELCOME TO THE GRAVE SIDE SERVICES ON THURSDAY IN CROWELL AT 11:00AM.
Also, for everyone, especially those that cannot make it, friends from the DFW crew are putting together a memorial service, probably this Sunday evening at the local VFW, for friends and family to gather locally in the N. Dallas (Plano?) area. Details are being worked out-- more later. Womack Maynard Funeral Home 940-684-1525 Crowell, TX |

IF AT ALL POSSIBLE - can you make this a little earlier in the day or early evening? I'll be driving in from Austin and need to make it back that day. I would be very grateful... |

Just came into the den to check on Wayne and ......
Today will not be a day I will remember fondly, RIP "Eric," and Thank you. Hessian-1 |

Wow what a shocker to find this out! He will surely be missed by all of AR15.COM. He was someone who never met a stranger, I glad I got to know him a little at the farm/gun shows/lunches. He was a great story teller!! "Eased him over the side" ~ Eric The Hun. I laughed when Falarak posted some of the Hun quotes, and was honored to meet him. What a sad sad day this is. His wife and family are in our deepest prayers.
RIP Wayne |
|
I met Wayne at the first Gunstock. He shared everthing thing he had with everyone without batting an eye lash. It was an eventful weekend, with many friends and memories made, but the one man that stood out in my mind the most over time was Wayne.
I still laugh to this day about him running over TRG's ice chest and trying to act like it was an accident. He was saying: "I never even saw it! It could have been a small child, holding an icechest, and I still would have run over it!" With TRG just standing there shaking his head. Rest easy bro. You are missed. |
|
Gonna miss your posts Eric. You were the best of us. See you on the other side.....

I won't be able to make it Thursday and unfortunately have plans Sunday evening. I'll keep an eye on this and will send some flowers once more info is posted.

Theres no way I can make it to the funeral, but, to those in the know, would a letter of condolence be welcome? If so, where can I send it to? IM if this is possible, please.
|
|
Well this is a sad day.
Wayne was a stand up guy and a greater guy would be hard to find. My wife and I just can not believe old ETH is gone. Barb, If we can help in any way just let me know. We wil keep you and the rest of the fam in our prayers. God Bless, Lynn |
|
RIP ETH!!!
May GOD rest your soul in heaven. By all the words and deeds poured out here you have a reserved spot within heaven. Enjoy it brother!!! |
|
I just saw this tonight. It's numbing.
I've always looked forward to seeing Wayne at our DFW events. He always made me feel welcome. He had his big smile, great energy, plenty of good stories, and a real passion for everything he believed in. Wayne, you and your family are in my prayers. |
|
I just got off the phone with my boss and I cannot have Thurs off. The Sunday memorial service is very doable for me though. If anyone is looking for possilbe split on a hotel room please IM me.
|
|
I will be at the funeral Thursday.
I will carry the grief of you all with me. Wayne will know you were there, in spirit, if not in person. I promise to send our friend on his journey with a happy heart, a toast from his friends, and all of your love. TRG |
|
I am returning from Birmingham on Thursday afternoon so will not be able to make it. However, his family will be in my prayers as I fly home to Dallas.
|
|
I'm working on a well outside Decatur, midnight to noon. I will see if my relief can give me a few hours extra time so I can come, its only about an hour and a half or so drive to get there. If not, TRG I'll ask you to add my name to your list.
RIP Wayne |
|
Thanks buddy; you will have a lot of grief to carry. |
