Guess we are still good here :) . Looks like I am going to come down from my parents in Southern York Co. PA so it should not be to far of a drive.
Could be a very short drive depending on where you're coming from. -------------------------Update----------------------------------- Yes, all is go with the cookout. I'm still am scrambling to get things ready but should be able to do so with no problems. So..... Everyone who is coming please confirm by sending me an IM either to just confirm or to ask for directions if you don't already have them. I just don't want to buy food for 30 and only have 20 show. If couple people woould be willing to show up a little early and help me set up that'd be appreciated. I have a 10x20 tent I'm going to set up and if I can't get it set up that Friday night I'll need a hand with it Saturday morning. Those still bringing tents please bring them and tables too. I also have 2 fairly large coolers that will be filled with ice 1 cooler will hold all the food & drinks that I'm providing. The second cooler can be used for BYOB and anything else that people may be bringing. Ohh I only have 1 box of clays and Trapture is bringing a box as well. I'll try to pick up a couple more but if someone else wants to bring a couple that'd be cool. I'll try to pick up some 12ga shells too. Shooting clays was popular last year. I do have a dozen plastic chairs, obviously not enough for everyone, so be safe and bring you're own, even if you don't end up using it. Can't think of anything else right now. Just hoping for good weather! |
Hopefully I'll be able to bring my silencer for my USP 45 (just got it yesterday, but there's a slight problem). I'll definately bring my Gemtech Halo for the AR.
Should be a fun day! ETA: The problem with my .45 can has or at least will have been resolved well in time for the shindig. |
Damn... I was really hoping to have at least one of my suppressors for this.
I'll do my best to make it this year. Definitely want ot get some trigger time... and PIE. |
still to late to sign up? We stopped working 6x10 hr days now Im free. Anyone coming from southern MD? BBQ how long did it take you to get to Annapolis for the dinner shindig?
Annapolis....you're about 1 - 1-1/2 hours away, depending on your foot.
I'll try to be there by noon or so. Maybe a tad earlier. Hoping for good weather!!
I got to test out my USP/silencer combo earlier today - I'll definately bring it along!!! |
Here it is Tuesday, and I already can't wait for Saturday...
Now then, what to bring, what to bring... I'm going to float a list here so if you see something you want to try, just chime in. Handguns first: SIG Trailside 6" Bullseye target .22 SIG P228 9mm SIG Pro 2340 .40 CZ-52 7.62X25 Beretta Cougar 8045F .45 Ruger Super Redhawk .44 Ruger P95DC 9mm S&W Performance Center 629-5 .44 S&W Performance Center 627-5 .357 S&W Performance Center 66-6 .357 S&W 586 6" .357 S&W 686 4" .357 Brazos 2011 custom IPSC limited .40 HK Tactical .45 Browing Hi-Power 9mm Kimber Custom .45 Glock 17 9mm Longuns: Finn M-39 7.62X54 VZ-24 8mm Schmidt-Rubin K31 7.5X55 Remington M1903A3 30.06 Harrington & Richardson M1 Garand 30.06 Universal M1 Carbine .30 UZI 9mm (Full Auto) Kel-Tec Sub2000 9mm Winchester Trapper .357 Beretta 1201FP 12ga Mossberg M590A1 AR-180B .223 DSA STG-58A FAL 7.62X51 Savage 10FP .308 So that's the current list. If you want it, ask. Otherwise I'll bring what I want to shoot. I also have a case of clays, several boxes of 12ga target loads, a couple of target stands, a dozen or so 2 liter plastic soda bottles (fill 'em with water, they make nice targets) and a few spare hard drives from work that need 'retiring'. -LeadPumper |
Yeah, things to shoot are ok so long as they don't make a huge mess or leave a lot of scattered debris, like monitors. Though trapture and I were commenting about going "Office Space" on the fax machine here at work. |
Hey Leadpumper,
If you wouldn't mind, please bring the SIG228. I'm looking at a different carry gun and I understand that it is relatively compact. If so, I'd like to see how it fits my hand. I'll toss some 9mm's in the ammo box. TIA, Ed |
A couple of you guys have your IM's turned off.
Rdblan & SAGRP- you guys still coming? I need to send you directions if you are. Everyone else I have either sent directions or request for confirmation. If I somehow missed you let me know, please. We're good to go so long as the weather is good. Just have to keep an eye on the weather reports as the week goes on. |
Hey LeadPumper could you bring the m1 garand I would love to shoot it.
Is anyone going to have a M1A ? I will bring my Sig GSR 1911 Colt ar15 hbar match/comp and my mossberg persuader |
I'm planning to bring an STG58, an AK underfolder, my M4gery, and a couple of pistols and cans.
I sent out some directions today and just realized that I didn't include my cell of home number. If you think you may want thme just in case IM me.
Remember guys this isn't Bulletfest. Not to deter fun but we're only going to be shooting for a couple hours. |
Anybody got anything they are looking to buy, sell, swap in the realm of accessories?
I have a set of STG58 handguards and pistol grip that I'd be interested in unloading. |
+ a freakin' million My contributions will be fairly meager, I'm afraid: 16" Bushmaster carbine Marlin 336 .30-30 Lee-Enfield No.4 Mk2. |
no problem, it's a 'Made in Germany' model SIG P228 9mm. The folded metal slide and forged frame weight and balance a little different than the P229 that replaced it. This particular piece was part of the SIG 'certified previously owned' program. It got a complete reworking at SIG than was sold as 'used'. I added a set of wolf springs and Hogue grips and love it. If I could carry a gun this would be it http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v502/jgelner/Other/P228.jpg
Naturally...
Sure thing. It's a 1955 H&R receiver mixmaster (lots of Springfield parts) from the CMP. Last time I had it out, I had a problem with cases sticking in the chamber. Turns out some of the Korean surplus ammo I used was corrosive and a fine layer of rust formed on the chamber wall. I've since polished the chamber and changed my cleaning routine... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v502/jgelner/Other/M1GARAND-2.jpg -LeadPumper |

I probably won't be able to make it this time. I talked to SAGRP and he had family duties that day. Was looking forward to hanging out with you guys. |
I have a nice ride from calvert county if anyone would like to be picked up along the way. I have a regular cab truck with a tanueau cover.
Hey All, i'm coming to the BBQ and I had a general question. Does anyone have a few spare AR15 firing pins. My Sten Mk III Semi Auto Kit has a AR15 firing pin and they want 8 bucks a piece and 7 bucks for shipping. so if anyone has a few (2, 3) I would be happy If I could buy them for 5-6 bucks a piece. If you can help email me at [email protected].
Thanks Again all! TRapture (Richard, Balto, Md.) |
Hey Trapture, I'd be glad to bring a couple extras with me, and e-mailed you as much.
Only thing is, they're not "5-6 bucks a piece" . . . . sorry dude. Not sure why you'd ask the favor and then offer less than you know they cost anyway. . . . I'll match Fulton's price of $6.95 if you still want them, since that's where the my replacement stock will likely come from. |
i will be there with the wify, a m4gery a mossy 500 ( maybe 2 ) maybe a m1 carbine and 1.75 cases of clays, 100 rounds of 12 gauge and 200 rounds of 9mm for some full auto uzi fun, that is if i can play with it ???? also i will bring 1000 rounds of wwb 223 so we know we have enough

In case anyone is wondering, the forcast is for scattered/occasional showers for my area tomorrow. This being the case we should be good for tomorrow. doesn't look like we'll have prolonged periods of rain if any(hopefully). There should be sufficiant cover in case it does rain.
Additionally, we will be in a high bug concentration area woods partially with a stream. I have OFF and would suggest since its going to be cooler that people wear long pants. Its totally up to you but just be advised there was a fairly good amount of poison ivy in the field. Even though its mowed its still around. Not to scare anyone but to make you aware. I'd maybe bring a change of clothes if you want to try shorts or something. Looking forward to seeing everyone!! |
Hey BBQ - with all the rain last night, are there any mud concerns? Just wondering whether to bring a pair of boots...
You can the grass might be wet plus with rain almost definite tonight it will likely be wet tomorrow. No real mud except where we cross the stream which I'm going to try to put some stones in tonight to make it a little better to cross. You still bringing that pop up 10x10? |
Sounds more important that you bring your own TP. . . BBQ, I'm still on and the daughter decided at the last minute to join me, so it will be "2". She's bringing her pink AR15 and a 20 ga. I will also be bringing a 10x10 pop up canopy. I'll bring 2 chairs for sure, do I need to bring a couple more? Still planning to bring some paper plates/cups, paper towels, crap like that (still needed?), some ice and sodas/beer . . . and what else? Need a small (30" x 60") folding table? I've got the steel targets, a paper target frame/targets, and have a 4x4 truck, so I'm self contained and can get to wherever you plan to set up to shoot. Found some clay birds in the garage, maybe a hundred. Concerns about the steel targets I'd like to point out now: 1) We have to be back off of them some with rifles,at least 50 yards or so, to reduce the possibility of getting any frags coming back, and to reduce pitting from high velocity bullets. Oddly, a .338 Lapua at 100 yards leaves less mark than a 55 grain .223. . . Pistols aren't so bad for high velocity frags and we can shoot them a little closer, especially if we can get them to lean away at the bottoms as they usually hang. 2) **NO** AP or steel core (like M855 or similar) ammo on the steel. First, the probability of ricochet is HUGE with steel core ammo on hardened steel plate. HUGE. Then, those AP/steel core bullets that do not come back will likely damage the plates. These targets are made of 3/8" AR500 which is surface hardened and is the customary material for steel targets. It will resist damage with sensible use beyond our lifetimes, but can/will be damaged by the wrong ammo. I spent more than $800 to buy and process a full 4 x 8 sheet of AR500 into various targets and I am happy to bring it out, but I sure don't want to throw that money away being stupid. There may even be frag problems with steel jacketed ammo, like Wolf, but I'm not sure and as long as we're safe, I don't think it will damage the steel. We'll see, I've got some Wolf for the AK. 3) You are shooting the steel targets at your own risk - not my problem if you hurt yourself . . . . I would strongly suggest shooting glasses, at least for the steel, even if you don't like to wear them otherwise. Trapture, got your e-mail and I put your firing pins (2) in the pack this morning. Sounds like a good time, see you guys tomorrow. |

I Have plates, napkins, bowls, cups, etc etc. thanks. I forgot I had all that stuff from functions that my parent's used to put on for the Appplichian Knifemakers Guild Rendezvous every year. I got 4 cokes, gonna get some Sprite and Diet Coke , and gonna have a cooler of Lemonade. Yes, eyes and ears are urged and recommended in general. (disclaimer: I'm responsible for others stupidity and any signs of idiocy with firearms and you WILL be asked to leave) I know noone will do that but I have to throw it out there. I already had your daughter included from before so no biggie. Guys pee in the woods girls go inside the house and guys can #2 in the house. Just to point out its a little hike back to the house so go early. |

1.) What were the caliber restrictions again?
2.) Last minute thought... an idea I'm stealing from the NJ shoot I went to. How about door prizes/drawing.... where everyone brings something to give away. People draw a number, the number is called... people get to pick from the items donated. Worked out great at that shoot. Everyone pretty much walked away with something. I have a double rifle case I have no use for any more. Possibly some other stuff as well. Just a thought. |
Nothing bigger than .50 Really I'd say everything I've heard of so far sounds good. NOTE: We will be stopping shooting by 5:00. Have to have some sympathy for the neighbors. They've never really complained thus far and I'd rather not push things too far so that'll give us a few good hours to run some rounds off. |
Pathfinder,
They just had a random drawing for the prizes at the Allegheny Sniper Challenge I attended in mid May and they used an unusual approach. They took a deck of new playing cards, and went around the crowd with them. Each person pulls a card from the deck and tears it in half. Fold one part in half and drop it in a hat, keep the second part of the card as your "ticket stub". Half-cards are pulled from the hat, and the owner of the other half comes up and picks something from the table. Once that card is used, it's not put back into the hat, and so no one wins more than one prize. Worked very well. We'd probably have to set some sort of "value range", or someone will bring a $50 item and leave with a $2 item. . . . |
hey BBQ could you pm your number I swear I wont try and get lost :)
Hey everyone tune in here tomorrow BEFORE YOU LEAVE!!! I just heard it might rain til 3:00 tomorrow. I'll check out the weather tonight and see what's going on.
NOAA Weather is predicting heavy T-storms-(70% probability) for the White Hall (upper Balto. County) area starting in the AM. I dont mind being out in the rain, nor do my weapons. BBQMan use your best judgement but i will be there either way.
I'll check in in the morning - if you decide to cancel, I'll certainly understand, although we'll definately have to come up with a rain date (I'm good every weekend except 6/24 and 7/14 ). It wouldn't be the first time if they totally got the forecast wrong and tomorrow turned out to be nice though. Always optimistic - that's me...
Funny thing is the channel 11 forcast which I find to be more accurate most of the time is predicting the storms to be through tonight and the rain to be cleared out by late morning. If that ends up being the case which its looking to be based on the NOAA radar of the front moving through. it'll be game on for tomorrow.
...or if I'm worng it'll be the first annual AR15,com lightning bolt dodging contest.
Can we make around 9 or 9:30am the go/no go post since by the time I get packed up and go pick up Spot77 I have to roll ut of the house by 10 or 10:15am.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed! |
Shoe-bet-ya. There's a good amont of rain coming in from Western PA...hopefully it will get through here by mid morning or earlier. |
looks mostly gone but a few sprinkles might happen
radar.weather.gov/Conus/full_loop.php |
Ok, going by the radar on NOAA we should be good to go for today. Its not raining here anymore. If there are only pop up showers then we;ll be ok.
See you all in a little while! |
Loading up now.
I'll look around for any "giveaway" stuff......probably mostly junk though. Maybe one man's junk is another's treasure. |
