It's a good long-term idea to be in the triangle like that. Small town he can dominate, close enough to the big ones.
Everything south of the Nueces will be the initial SpaceX Special Autonomous Zone, so I thought he might like to be in there. But it's too far from Austin for a tech company right now. |

Prediction - "Don't Austin My Bastrop" bumperstickers will soon be a huge seller.
It's a great town & close to ABIA (International Airport) so I can see the possibilities, but Bastrop (& anywhere around Austin for that matter - Dripping Springs, Marble Falls, Liberty Hill & San Marcos / Kyle) have been over run with "transplants" and not all of them bring "Traditional Texas Values". |

I like to think there's a decent chance that the hardest core of the lefties who still work at X would rather find a new job somewhere else, than uproot their lives and relocate to Bastrop.
It's how I sleep at night, so don't go ruining it for me.

80% of former twitter staff already left or were laid off when and after purchased them. Shouldn't be too many transplants.

Bastrop was sort of a semi-secret spot for those who wanted traditional rural, "Conservative Texas" but still be in reach of the Airport or Austin if needed. Prices were "reasonable" (compared to Austin & the surrounding Hill Country areas) and the "quality of life" high.
