17 yr old Janesville kid being charged as an adult for the death of a 15yr old passenger in his car.

17yr old boy driving a VW Rabbit with 4 other kids in the car lost control on S. Emerald Grove Rd east of Janesville and rolled it 4 times killing a 15 yr old, seriously injuring 3 others and getting minor injuries himself. The crash happened south of Avalon and north of Creek where Larsen Rd meets Emerald Grove. 45mph speed limit there. Its a hilly area and Larsen is at the top of a hill crest on Emerald Grove. Drove down it yesterday after work. Its been pea graveled and still has loose gravel on the sides. Being its a "roller coaster" type road I can only guess what he was doing. Other side of the hill just past Larsen you can see where the car hooked to the left before going into the west side ditch. Marks in the field looks like it rolled across a creek into the field on the other side where the engine was on fire. As far as it went I can only guess he was above 60. Latest news I read on it they found THC vape pens in the car. Driver says he didnt vape while driving but used it earlier in the day. Heres the lasts news report. WKOW. 17yr old release after posting bond. 1 ct - homicide by negligent use of a vehicle - felony G (up to 10yrs and/or $25K fine) 2 cts - reckless driving causing great bodily harm - Felony I (up to 3.5 yrs and/or $10k fine) 1 ct - reckless driving causing injury - misdemeanor (possible 30 days to a year in jail and/or $300-$2000 fines) Around 2005 outside Evansville 4 kids died after they lost control on a road like this (and was freshly pea graveled), hit a tree and the car went up in flames instantly. Couple years ago an 18 yr old decided to park his new Porsche SUV on its side between trees near Lions Beach. His mother had a tracker in it and when he didnt come home, she went out looking for him and found him dead in the car. It was way back in the trees. 25 mph zone, he was doing well over that. No skid marks in the curve, just marks on the curb where the tires hit causing it to flip on its side before going into the trees. A month ago a 17yr old in a Jeep Grand Cherokee crossed the centerline and hit a Hyundai SUV head on. 55mph 4 lane highway. Thankfully no one died. Just minor injuries. |

Well found out the dumbass got arressted for operation of a vehicle under a restricted controlled substance in Feb. The county charges for the crash are: Unreasonable and Imprudent Speed Forf U $213 Operating Motor Vehicle by Probationary Licensee w/ Unauthorized Person in Vehicle Forf U $200 Operator Fail/Have Passenger/SeatBelted Forf U $10 From the crash he was ordered NOT to drive. Yet 3 months later he gets pulled over with restricted substances. Surprised he didnt get a bail jumping charge. |
